  ACtually hor, are there not other Civil service positions that you can sign up in? You seem to be largely motivated by job security. The problem with the army (aside from the fact that the 'military' aspect of the job is not taken seriously and you have no real opportunity to be a soldier though and through) is that when you leave, you leave with absolutely no useful skill at all. You might not even have a driving licence if you do not clock 7000 K.
  
  Try civil defence? Maybe there are paramedic qualifications avaliable?

  OF course can. But selection is difficult nowadays, the threadstarter will be evading his NS obligations and I am not sure the threadstarter has the motivation to stick with the FFL.

  35th Singapore Combat Engineers - Bridging Engineers
  
  36th Singapore Combat Engineers - Explosive Ordnance Disposal
  
  39th Singapore Combat Engineers - Chemical, Biological, Radiological Defense
  
  for 36SCE and 39SCE, there is a $400 risk allowance for Regulars, $200 for NSF.
  
  however, in 36SCE, be prepared for lots of real world ops, and burn your week ends like theres no tomorrow. however, u go to places where ordinary people can not and will not go.

  Oh yeah, like sweeping n sniffing parliament house b4 any parliament meets. Prepare to burn weekends BIG TIME man.
