7 day field camp in BMT wads that? heard quite a num of bad reponse..wad do we do in field camp? wad if my skin cond flares up in field camp?

if your condition flares up, then you will be refered to MO. no worries. they wont let you suffer. and if its flares up and it is serious, then you will miss your field camp and fail BMT.
unless you retake your field camp with another company without any friends. it will be all u alone. -
or just get downgraded due to skin problems. quite common... some ppl cannot take the outfield environment and develope lots of wierd skin allergies.

During your BMT fieldcamp you will learn all sorts of individual field crafts like how to setup your arc of fire using the arc of fire sticks, how to apply camo cream the correct way, how to judge distances, leopard crawl, light and noise dicipline etc.. the whole concept of BMT fieldcamp is to let you get use to the wild. Many people used to complain about their skin problems before going for their first fieldcamp but in the end most of them pass their BMT fieldcamp without much problem. Skin irritation is just a minor problem and should be easily over come. Don't be afraid of getting dirty cause alot more worst thing is going to happen when you go fieldcamp with your unit.

Loads of 'fun' during Field Camp. Hardly had decent rest during the course of it. The likes of thunderflashs thrown near our freshly setup tent and raping of our 'wives' very common thruout back then.
And yes, we eat dirt every now and then while knocking down for the 20s, 40s and 60s whichever they felt appropriate.
Above all that, you do learn quite a fair bit of field craft like one of the forumite mentioned... it'll helped in the long run. That's why u are there for BMT... to get the basics right. -
Oh, abt ya skin cond... do let your MO and Instructors know prior to the FC. They do not want nasty surprises nowadays.
In any case your cond goes beyond flaring up and need hospitalization... at least they were told beforehand and allows u to go outfield. -

Fieldcamp u are pretty much under the mercy of the weather. for me, it rained 5 out of 7 days. and u can imagine how muddy and wet we were.
back then we were using those poncho which hardly was waterproof at all. nowadays everyone have their goretex jacket.
looking back now, though my fieldcamp was tough and tiring, i'll say i enjoyed it as it was a memorable experience. -
Hmmm............field camp ar........ mine was 7days.
Basically, just do watever that is required of u, try to be more on the ball, this is not for wayang sake, but to be more aware of your physical surrounding, for safety sake. Be aware of things like not to trip over comscord lines used to fix the basha, be careful of where u prone and things like dat. Just dun be afraid of the dirty, and the demoralising wet weather. If u keep a high moral, u will not fall sick easily. -
Haha...my BMT field camp was quite an experience alright. It rained everyday, and a lot of time was spent with my buddy in our basha propping it up against the water with our arms and legs. Worst was when we were sitting on our fieldpacks in the dark and in the rain, waiting for the tonners to come to take us back to company line. But overall it was quite a fun and enjoyable experience.
So my friend, take it easy and don't worry about your skin condition. I have eczema and it didn't stop me from enjoying the field camp and it didn't flare up after that, so you should do fine too. -

i can always remember the feeling of misery when it starts to rain, cos it means wet, flooded ground and muddy ground sheet and that means super uncomfortable sleep.
then there was once in ROC, we harboured but only laid groundsheet and put up a groundsheet overhead in case it rains. and true enuff, it did. i spent the rest of the night sitting there, shifting the overhead groundsheet push off the water accumulating on it to prevent it from collapsing.
on another occasion, it started to rain in the middle of our sleep in the midst of the jungle in brunei - right into our face. luckily it was not too heavy. we simply pulled groundsheet over our heads and continued to sleep!
really wonder how i managed to pull through those lousy situations then! -

But i think BMT field camp is the worst i would say ...sleep in the basha , need to maintain field discipline, rocky ground, scared of instructors stealing weapons, dame -

after field camp, it makes me appreciate the food they serve in the cookhouse even more.
