I can't answer your first few questions as I dont fast.Originally posted by DamienSaputra:My enlistment to BMTC School 2 will be on 6th October which happens to fall during the fasting month.
I have some questions for our Muslim NSmen:
-How do you survive the harsh conditions during the day? Do you tahan or just give up?
-Will the instructors(or whatever you call them) give you more rest than the rest of your non-muslim platoon mates?
So there is this confinement for two weeks, which means that I will most likely to book out on the 20th. But Hari Raya falls on the 24th(I guess) so when do I have to come back to camp?
Cheers.

Why no fast?
Heh, looks like I try to tahan for the first few days then see how la...LOLOriginally posted by mhcampboy:I can't answer your first few questions as I dont fast.
But what I know is you will be given the same amount of training whether you fast or not.
Dude, you entered on the 6th which is on thursday doesnt mean you will book out exactly 2 weeks which is on 20th. You will bookout on the 21st.
About your booking out, maybe your Colonel Ishak or respectives CO's might be giving a super duper long off. Meaning, book out on friday(21st) night and book in on Tues(24th) night.
Or, normal bookout on friday. book in on sunday. bookout again on mon night. and return back on tuesday night.
All depends on the discretion of the Commander.
FYI: Colonel Ishak is the President of Tekong. or Commander BMTC.
Yes. Bookingout is always on Friday.Originally posted by DamienSaputra:Heh, looks like I try to tahan for the first few days then see how la...LOL
Is booking out always on a Friday?
But then again bookout, then book in, book out again isn't it a bit ma fan?
Haiz.....looks like I'll be celebrating Hari Raya in Camp...haha
HAHA, I will take your word from it. But its a bit of a blessing that I'll be 'celebrating' most of Hari Raya in camp; at least I don't have to face annoying relatives.Originally posted by mhcampboy:Yes. Bookingout is always on Friday.
SAF is known for its "ma faness".
Hmmm, morning hari raya you can celebrate what. only night time you got to come back.
Of course you may take my word for it.Originally posted by DamienSaputra:HAHA, I will take your word from it. But its a bit of a blessing that I'll be 'celebrating' most of Hari Raya in camp; at least I don't have to face annoying relatives.

since the CO himself is a Malay, high chances is that he will give Monday off. cos i doubt CO himself wants to come back Monday to work.Originally posted by mhcampboy:About your booking out, maybe your Colonel Ishak or respectives CO's might be giving a super duper long off. Yea my OC has this thing against pouring water over the head. Something about wasting water... lolOriginally posted by fudgester:Well, it wasn't the fasting month during BMT for me, but I did fast while at my unit.
From what I remember they gave tons and tons of food for sahur. I think they pretty much combined breakfast and lunch for sahur. Personally, though, I find it extremely difficult to eat so much solid food at 4am in the morning. A normal breakfast would have sufficed for me.
Do try your best to fast as much as you can, for I'm sure you don't want to make up all the days that you missed. At the same time, though, if you really have to break your fast, then use your own discretion. It won't do to have you fainting under the hot sun for lack for food and water.
I personally had to forgo two days of fasting when I was starting to black out while doing strenous training out in the jungle. I'm the freakin' company medic, and surely the last thing anyone wants is for the medic to pengsan. Just be sure to make up for whatever days you've missed.
Here's a tip: during water parades, instead of drinking the water, pour it all over your head.
Oh dear.... then I suppose showering is an even greater waste then?Originally posted by nullifi3d:Yea my OC has this thing against pouring water over the head. Something about wasting water... lol
