NS Reservist Holding List (RHL): Need to Take Non-ICT IPPT?

Recently i received a letter telling me that i am on the holding list for reservist and not require to take IPPT yet.
Need to ask that so does it mean that i will only start to book for ippt after i am posted to a unit? -
last time got ask a mindef clerk, he just say 'u no unit how to ippt...' then concluded with after get posting then take ippt...

i've orded and i do not have a unit. so do i still need to take my IPPT? or do i start to take it when i get notified by mindef?

in most cases, they will sent u a letter reminding u to book your IPPT online.

Actually wondering. I got no reservist unit also, on NS holding list. Been about 2 years since ORD. I wonder is it fortunate I don't have a unit now or should I inform them in case of over look. I scared scarly I 40 years old then kenna call back and serve like mad.
Sometimes my friend say I good never posted. But I wonder if I have to pay for it in future. Might be better to indicate right? -
Hmm... Yes, do remind them of your exisitence. Like I posted on another thread, I have a buddy who didn't get called up for 7 years after his university graduation and thought he had got away from doing reservist...
Alas no, they called him up when he was 30! And now he'll be charging hills till he is 40! Sheesh! -
Why when we ORD we are liked left outside SAF's gate to rot ah?
No notification of units, no instructions, etc etc.
Apply exit permit also not informed your official status.
I am currently on 3 year exit permit, but i have this uncanny feeling somehow somewhere their computer will detect that i never take IPPT and therefore send me for RT.
Then next time I show up to camp,next thing i know is go DB for desertion. -

Not really, can you imagine trying to chong suah when you are 39? Or trying to do that damn assault course at BCTC at that age? Trust me, it's no fun.
AND, you have to go for FFI every 2 years after 35, more time taken up from your life. -

If you were from school or some other non-combat unit then it's a little more of a crapshoot. Good chance you might end up in PDF if you are combat fit. Although if you are trained in a particular combat field, i.e. if you were scout instructor during your NS, you might get posted to one of the combined arms divs to make up for people downgrading etc.
If you are on exit permit for studies, then you are on IHL and will go back to unit when you complete your studies.
If you on exit permit, no worries, you shouldn't be liable for IPPT.
So as long as you on exit permit, relax and enjoy the time. -
If you are combat fit then perhaps I see your point. But I'm PES C2L2, so go back also lobo. All my downgraded friends in the same company all do admin. KNN, go back reservist to sleep and tak kiew. Odd thing is that I'm also from a combat unit. Was there, disrupted, then returned there after disruption. So technically i should follow all my old mates back to the reservist unit. All of em are there and waiting for me to go back. But nothing leh. I think they got too many downgraded personnel already, can't justify me going back there. Not sure how it works.
I dunno, will see how. Some of them said I will get posted at approx 2 years after I ORD. That would be mid-Sept, so see how.
EDIT: On that same note, my friends told me that one of the reservist PC is this old fat fella, 1st time come back do reservist. Apparently he worked overseas for a very long period. Suppose to conduct GPMG familarisation for the men, but instead the men teach him, ROFL. -

Best is my BMT platoon mate... He went same unit as me and disrupted as well. Returned to complete his remainder at about the same time as me, but ORD'ed earlier. Within 2 weeks he kenna recall manning. compared to combat vocation need to go field n exercise.

Yup, it's 3 rounds on the road. It isn't too tough. You just have to be prepped for the short uphill bit.
