i understand that scolding is needed. but some are too much cause just for a few minor mistakes we get splashed with vul. sometimes its not a rec fault he get farked
seriously i dont care if someone is a Rec or wad kind of rank ,at least respect ppl under u, when scolding there is no need to scold vulg. N when scolding some of the seragents have to wake up n investigate before hurling vulg.
N some of the sergeant give those kaobei look and attittude that really cause ppl under him to hate him. How do u expect ppl to learn effectively. N most of this attitude prob seragent dono never go school or fail school or wad, cant speak proper n clear Eng n expect us to knoe everything.
N some sergeant also cant be bothered to do their job well. Some speak so softly, some are simply too lazy. There was this sergeant conducting 1 section of the 1st aid test. He was sitting down benidng down, looking on floor n we are ordered to gather around him. Throughout the test he was looking at floor n he just mumbled his instructions so softly while looking on floor. IF some sergeant are not displined enough to just speak clearly n look at us while talking , wad u expect the "lowest lifeform in SAF to do?" -
Sorry to hear about your story. Realistically though, what kind of solutions do you hope to get? Also, based from your post, you should understand one thing. While it is possible to be a senstive new age guy in the civilian world, it is not possible in the barbaric bmt environment. If you do not want to be makan-ed, toughen yourself up. Get yourself immune to the insults or whatever your platoon-mates are doing to you. Easier said than done of course, but you still have to try. -
Yeap, i suppose u can consider me as "Storeman." Had to look after a couple of those in my NSF days. Its not a totally slack vocation as most people are led to believe. There's nonsense such as LRI, and internal audits to be concerned about.
Then theres the o'seas exercises. Total headache... and finally, SAF's most famous operation, OFE. During that period, I dare say it was the logistics dept of our unit and sister unit that did bulk of the work effectively and without complaint.
We had a bunch of "ah bengs" and less qualified men in our logistics section, people who'd find time for a python snack every once in a while, but when we were activated, it was these guys who lasted days after days with minimal rest. To tell you the truth, we respect the guys who are "combatants" and have to do the work at the front. Its just sad, that these guys don't seem to be able to have the same attitude for us. -

I got diffculties communiating with my bunkmates. I am a shy guy since small. I tired engaging, starting conversations a few times but they seem not to be interested. He also use the empty shells to hit my helmet for every mistake i made.
The situation now is so bad that i am starting to feel depressed. Sometimes i would cry silently in bunk.
Well that sums off wad i had to say. I know its kinda immature n stupid to have this kind of mentality n NS is supposed to toughen me up but with all this kind of prob i doubt so.

3 months BMT already so depressed. Imagine those people like me have to go through 6 months.
Thats not to say i'm having a torrid time in tekong. Sometimes its a matter of adapting to different environments quickly. -

cheer up. if you can't change the environment you are in, suit the environment.

I think the threadstarter really need to bulid his character up,this type of thing very hard to help u,my advice to u is that try to mix ard with the popular person in the bunk,alway smile even though u are sad and sian deep inside,how will u feel if u see someone with a sad n sian face in your bunk,u will also feel sian.
As for vulgarities?What the big deal abt it man?The sgts scold u vulgarities,will u lose a hair or something?u should feel lucky that u all are now only serving 2 yrs of NS instead of 2 and a half yrs man.
Have u try before when u are marching out preparing to book out and becos we never greet the CO ,in the end the whole co being confine durning sat?This is what we call sian comparing to being scold with vulgarities,it nothing leh. -
thats why i hope to solve this prob asap..i also wish i can adapt to mili life fast but different ppl got diff character. I did try to open up more but bunk mates most of time never reply . Of course extrovert and outgoing ppl can adapt fast but for intorverts we neeed more time n more opportunities. -
U just have to get used to it. Anyway its just 6 more weeks so just endure. Normally it gets better when u r getting closer to POP.
What kind of advice do u wan us to give u? All of us been thru it to a greater or lesser degree. u must change n adapt to the enviroment not the other way round.
Anyway BMT now is like a camping trip, if u cannot tahan it now think of what we used to go thru... -

Buddy, you have to stop pitying yourself and looking at things from a negative point of view. Just accept and do the best you can.
Some of the scolding is meant to put pressure on you. If you can't handle a little scolding, how are you gonna handle the pressure of explosions going off near you, bullets aimed at you and obey commands that are shouted at you whilst your buddies are dropping dead next to you.
As for your fellow recruits, prove to them that you are as good as them. Then F them back in a friendly way when they give you a hard time and all will be fine.
If you continue to pity yourself then your next 1 year, 11 months and 3 weeks is going to be pure hell. -
Dude, for the scolding using inappropriate languages by ur superiors: Take and forget it.
In life, there will times, u will get screwed for no apprant reasons and u cannot get what u want 100% of the time. If u keep harbouring on WHY? WHY? WHY? Trust me, u will get more depressed only. I know because I been down that road too.
So take it, improve if necessary then forget abt it.

If the recuit stared to feel unberable, please call counxelling hotline or inform provost about u being bullied. They will definitetly take serious action.

oh, and only the worst specs/malay specs go to BMTC. good specs go to good units, better ones dun become infantry specs.

however, not having at least minimal respect for a fellow soldier in the same army wearing the same uniform, ...not to mention b1tching about the same kinda food..., is just sad.
