Promotion for the NSF is to recognise his performance and past
contributions during NS. Due to the onerous nature of duties for
those deployed in combat vocations, they are promoted earlier than
those in service support vocations.
The SAF regularly reviews the promotion guidelines, the last
revision to the enlistee promotion guidelines being in 2011 and
2013. Currently, NSFs may be promoted to the Corporal (CPL) rank
between the 12th and 18th month of service. The minimum service for
promotion to Corporal First Class (CFC) has also been shortened in
the 2013 revision.
We would also like to highlight that promotion in rank is not an
entitlement: servicemen would have to meet the stipulated minimum
criteria to be eligible. Unit Commanders are also given the
discretion to assess if a serviceman who qualifies for promotion is
deserving of the promotion at the given point in time, after
considering the operational requirements of the unit.
If I am not wrong, yes SAF is bringing back the ranks from the past and creating new ones due to the 2 years liability period. Saw that directive being emailed out to all units when I went back to camp to visit my S1 and some colleagues.Originally posted by nismoS132:friends tell me is a 3SG rank with a semi circle above like the typical cpl rank.
I don't think that's a good idea. Some vocations are 3SG for many different reasons, some relating to Ops or data classification.Originally posted by Gordonator:am i correct to say that all "specialists" that doesn't go through SISPEC will be promoted to Corporal First Class?
the last batch of service 3SG, and the 1st batch of incoming Cpl FC.Originally posted by Gordonator:who are these friends that told u this?
first part is true, i heard of it before i ord.Originally posted by nismoS132:what they said was, technicians will no longer get the rank of 3sg unless they got for some PS course. those who don't get to selected will be promoted to cpl 1st class.
$10!!!Originally posted by Eikei:PFC is already in. CFC is in the works. PFC comes with a $10 pay increase if I am not wrong and is mainly as an incentive for those below A level/poly education levels and yet still cannot be given LCP due to quotas.
i think 2 main reasons.Originally posted by ^tamago^:first part is true, i heard of it before i ord.
second part is quite amusing though not entirely impossible. but why they wan to promote the usage of CFC's?
More like one extra pack of cigs.Originally posted by SingaporeMacross:$10!!!
Bus money?
PFCs were very common during my time after the year 2000.Originally posted by laurence82:Strangely, during my time, PFCs are rare, and we only see them among the reservists, so when was the PFCs reintroduced?
And so many 3SGs in the reservist lot....
