Command Sergeant Major of the Singapore Armed Forces.Originally posted by Gordonator:Sergeant Major of the Army sounds so funny. Army Sergeant Major sounds nicer.
Yes - that is a US army term. God - Of all armies, we are learning from the Yanks. Looks like there are many Yank nutriders in the SAF. Mind, I think we will be going "HOOOAH" everytime something mildly interesting is said and the various units will be giving themselves gungho nicknames like "devil dogs", etc etc etc.Originally posted by matchless:In this month's Pioneer magazine, there's a short article about new Army RSM taking over.
But i noticed they called it Sergeant Major of the Army, instead of the old "Army Regimental Sergeant Major (Army RSM)".
I think there was a thread somewhere, about Corporal First Class, and some forummer mentioned about SAF following the US Army about the new name.
When i read Pioneer, i was shocked that SAF really used the new term.
"Sergeant Major of the Army."
What you guys think of it? In my opinion i think SAF really following US Army too much already. What with the new uniform badges and all.
Who knows, next time they might invert all the chevrons for Sergeants and follow US Army style. (as in our three stripes are pointing down, and US is pointing up.)
the RAF ranks are kinda cool though.... "air vice marshal"Originally posted by LazerLordz:Equipment wise, I wouldn't reject going down that path. We are no longer in the orbit of the United Kingdom, that's why our Army heritage and pomp is a mix of many inspirations.
But my limit stops with the grey horror of the ACU, and please do not adopt the Petty Officer rank..
Commodore. We used to have it on the RSN, until they adopted Rear Admiral.Originally posted by Hellraiza:the RAF ranks are kinda cool though.... "air vice marshal"
