Should position of CDF be rotated among the services?

I guessed judging from the past CDF, majority of them from the army except once from the air force. The navy has not seen its CNV been promoted to CDF.

actually we got a NAVY CDF now.... but he is doing it in Civilian capacity.

In US, the position is almost to be rotated among the services.

Funny if Minister for Defence is a Enlistee.

then when he do reservist need to listen to his Sect Comd. hahah.
But whenever the Sect comd tekan, the sect comd will find it even weird when his NS battalion Stand-down already he still need to report for reservists 40 days every year till he is 40. -
highly doubt that ministers will need to do reservist. any minister appointment is higher than any ranks in the SAF.

Then how come if they are like "non star" rank they dun usually mention the rank..
In history it always been, BG LHL, BG Bey, BG LHY, RADM Teo.
But never... MAJ (NS) Mah.
I guess ppl with higher ranks will not look up at his public office knowing his rank..
Like MAJ (NS) Mah, announcing that more ERP gantries will be set up along Orchard road..
Some LTC (NS) or in service LTC/COL, watching the TV when watching the news will go like "KNNCCB, this Maj dunno what he doing, I think I ltc can do his job better" -
Not really keen on Maj Mah. Anyone have the military history on Wong Kan Seng, or was he a Policeman ?
Personalities like Lim Hng Kiang could probably reach the 'Stars' if they were not called to political office too early in their career. -

By right, the CDF should be rotated among the three services. This is to allow better input from all three services. If SAF only have CDF from Army backgrounds, then one can expect our military forces to be very land centric. This is because if the CDF will inevitably has better understanding about the service that he comes from and can better contribute to it in his term as CDF.
