Weapons used by the SAF

  Would like to know the Past, present and Future weapons that are used by the SAF and why they are chosen over other types of weapons. Thanks!!

  Ok, I do know that Singapore at first wanted to purchase the G36 from Germany but found that it is too expensive. Afte that, they made the SAR 21 as a replacement for the M-16.

  Its common for every army to evaluate every possible replacements for their weaponry.
  
  They finally chose SAR 21 because it is local so they will not be dependant on foreigner countries to control our own basic weaponry.

  doesn't matter what ever weapon we use. just remember the basic rule of firearm handling.
  
  [*]finger outside trigger, check clear.
  
  [*]load magazine probably and aim. listen to command.
  
  [*]command given then shoot.
  
  [*]after shooting, check clear again.
  
  [*]always point up at the sky when squeezing the trigger after checking clear.

  U wanna noe the weapons used in the past? Perhaps I can shed some light. My father was the first batch NS ppls. He told me that during that time ppls used the left over gear of the New Zealand army. Like their uniform, which tears easily and is over-sized for Asian, their boots that are veri crappy, helmet so big that it covered some ppls eyes!
  
  As for weapons, they used the Lee Enfield Mark4 rifle, the Bazooka, 60mm mortars, Self loading rifle(SLR), AR-15. During their time, the AR-15 is considered as something veri high tech and a big hoo-ha then. It is so medieval that it is not the round muzzle but the 3 prong ones. The worst is the Bazooka, long and un-weldy, difficult to chiong in even
  Lim chu kang area. The best thing is, go live firing always miss! Forget to say, he also use before the GPMG, thus you can imagine how old the weapons we are using now, since late sixties to now!!

  GPMG is obviously old weapon.

  I'm trained to operate a 0.5 inch Browning heavy machine gun mounted on a manually-turn cupola from a M113. I also had a chance to ride on a locally made AMX-10 APC when 42SAR first used it (after that no news of this vehicle) .. next coversion during ICT to 40mmAGL, 50mmHMG mounted on an electrically-turn terret Ultra-M113 and followed by 25mm canon OWS ... then now got Bionix some more ... however, the tank are still the old SM1 ...
