to let the enemies die of laughter.Originally posted by Gordonator:why are their names printed on the planes?
The British Army Lets JNCOs fly apaches. The RAF, however, still sticks to its old ways and sends its officers to war.Originally posted by tt3:actually they shld let sgt b pilot...
ehh...but unlike in the army, specialists are NOT trained to pilot a plane leh...Originally posted by syncopation_music:Why not ? when all the officer pilot die in dogfights ...its time to let the

Note:In us there is SSG who drive a helicopter ... I dun see any issue with that ?

It caught my eye instantly.Originally posted by Master -_-:It's my thread!!!!!!! I'm right after all
It could just be a ORD gift for the two techs by their squadron CO? It's not too expensive to just do the decal.Originally posted by baseturn:If I am not mistaken, it could be the names of the "Dedicated Crew Chiefs"
In my opinion, the most important people .... those who take care of the plane.
Without them, the plane is just a hunk of junk on the ground... pilot or no pilot.
That just from my limited understanding of the air force.
However, most "Dedicated Crew Chiefs" are way more senior than a 3SG and 2SG.
So maybe the pic is doctored.
That is very true. But my theory of a little "prank" as a gift could be possible.Originally posted by Ponders:It doesn't seem to be the Font RSAF normally use on their plane and they are at the wrong location.
DCC are usually way lower.
So i think they are Photoshopped.
As for WOSE piloting aircrafts and comparison with US Army... there are few points we have to note before we make comparisions.
US WOs are Commissioned. They hold the President's Commission and in US, the definition of holding a commission is clear. Their WOs receive intensive flight training equal to that a helo pilot will get. However they cannot get Officer rank as they are only really specialised in Helo flying and related operations.
A US Pilot officer on the other hand are trained much more other aspects than flying only. In US context, a Warrant Officer is an Officer who are Specialist (trained intensively in one area). Where as an Commission Officer is a Generalist (globally trainied)
To hold a commission in US means they are authorised to act on the President's behalf using the powers as vested in them by the president.
in SAF, i do not think there was ever a formal definition to what "Commissioned by the President" means. SAF WOs are simply Specialists who have obtained minimum 10 years experience and went to further training to become WOs.
SAF WOs do not hold a commission.
