a reservist can be as short as 5 foot 2 to as long as 6 foot 2 that is how i would answer your question phrased that way....Originally posted by Cenarious:how long is a reservist usually?
That is why there is a law to prevent the discrimination of a NSman in the consideration for a job. No employers may disadvantage, nor dismiss an employee because of his National Service obligation.Originally posted by Coquitlam:Like it or not, reservist duties will affect a guy's career, and I don't mean the normal jobs at normal positions. As a foreigner, I will not hire a someone who has to serve reservist a month a year especially if I think that its going to affect my company's performance....its sad but true and its one of those things in life...I agree fully that they have a right to impose reservist duties but employers also have full rights....
dude... when lim peh was doing NS, u're prolly still sucking ur neh neh through the neh neh bottle.Originally posted by Cenarious:dude if u dont have the knowledge dont make trouble just keep quiet in my thread.
Ya, I agree that if you are going for a interview, some of them will ask your pes status. If you are a Pes E or F , they will want to know why you got Pes E or F, and will it affect their company. Cos they do not want to pay for medical bills if your illness is arised from your condition.Originally posted by SBST390:dude... when lim peh was doing NS, u're prolly still sucking ur neh neh through the neh neh bottle.
The going through of reservist is considered a rite of passage for Singaporean mailes. In fact, it is mandatory that you report for for reservist liabilities. In cases where the emploer is really shorthanded, they can put in a appeal but will be considered on a case by case basis.
In fact, employers will start to question if you hadnt have to serve your reservist

what about mental illnessOriginally posted by Herzog_Zwei:Sure, Reservist obligations do affect people not working locally or working in a foreign company, especially for those people working in MNCs. Technically, someone must cover your jobscope for the period you are not around. It's hard for superiors who do not have reservist duty in their own countries to understand a NSman's obligation.
A side-note for those who are PES F, it'll depend on the medical condition you are suffering from. If it's a common and controllable problem, foreign companies prefer you to a person who has reservist duties.
i knew it. you got mental illness..Originally posted by Cenarious:what about mental illness
