I think alot of people here are taking a "romantic" view of the SAF. Sending in NSF infantry!? They are not even sending in troopers who are PKO-trained! Stop day-dreaming lah...
Anyway so many people are calling for SG to send in troops, if they call for volunteer peacekeepers, i wonder how many here will sign up?
PKO is not about patrolling around with ur fancy new rifle wearing your Oakley sunnies man... -

It seems that the UN has given sufficient pressure to European nations to contribute troops and France is going to lead the force. Israel will be happy with it but will Hezbollah? If Hezbollah and Lebanon do not accept the neutrality of the international force, those foreign soldiers may well be caught between the Jews and the Muslims in yet another war.
Let's hope the international force will comprise 50% Europeans and 50% Muslims...or else this conflict might well drag on... -

If we go which side r we on, we have a long relationship with Israel we do not want 2 destroy tat, but we dont want 2 spoil our relations with other mulism countries, dun forget we r surrounded by them. Even if we send non-combat units ,war is not so easily defined

that being said, some combat experience for troops would be good, but i feel that talking about it like that is very unfair for people who are ordered to go instead of volunteering for it. of course, an all volunteer force is ideal.
all this aside, im quite taken aback by the calm responses by monoslayer and Chelzea. for this, i apologise for my earlier outburst.
however, i still think that the SAF is the ONLY force standing between the vultures around us and our loved ones. therefore, all soldiers, be it NSF, Regulars, and NSmen deserves some small measure of respect for being the ONLY deterrent force separating a nation from life and death. -

I've always maintained that a peacekeeping force, be it made up of Regulars, NSFs or NSmen, has to get their manpower through volunteerism. That is the only way to keep it legitimate in the eyes of the citizens.
