Because a recent audit by PriceWaterhouse discovered that a 5-tonner full of NSmen's I-35 service records just went missing. Even the auditor's own I-35 are missing.
So SAF panic.. need to think of a way to find out how to get "missing" NSmen report for their reservist. -

I Orded 2005 feb, and i still haven't recieved any unit posting. Any cause for concern? -
Did he disrupt NS for overseas studies? After graduation, he might have gone on to the reserve holding list because he was working overseas. When he returns, he will start his reservist late lor.
Another possibility might be that he was previously downgraded for medical reasons but has now been upgraded. -

He will first defend SAF saying there is some confusion by Mr Tan that Mr Tan overlooked the unit he was supposed to report. This issue is resolved by SAF and Mr Tan.
Then he will say, Reservist is for the defence of the nation and nothing comes before this. SAF is flexible with reservist training but certain arrangement cannot be considered... bla bla bla..

the foundations upon which the organization was built is good, everything else is in a state of permanent decay. frankly, i believe it truly is ALL for show. put it this way, more and more singaporeans are wanting to give up living there(not citizenship) because of the fact of this liability. if it wasn't that bad, it wouldn't be called liability would it?
anw, i orded a year ago, applied for deferment cuz i'm studying overseas now and yet they still call me up. whatever their problem is, i have no idea. besides, the job i do is supposedly obsolete. oh well, lets just wait and see what kinda tricks theu have up their sleeves this time -
Unless there is a change in the SAF manpower directive, a NSman can only be called up no more than 3 weeks per workyear? So, if one is being call up for a ICT, and assume he is the advance party, then he will served the whole of 3 weeks in 1 ict. If one is not officer, then by age 40, regardless whether you can completed your 10 cycle or not, you are not required to go back to NS by law.... well, like i said, unless they changed the directive....

I think Mindef is audited by the Auditor-General, not an independant private company.
Can ppl confirm this?
Because there was a period of few years where Auditor General reports to the public that Mindef has the highest discrepancy amongst all Government body.
I think this particular Auditor General have been extrajudicially managed. -

Turn yourself in to who ?? MINDEF ?? Which department ?? Unit ??
I think it is more effective writing to Straits Times forum.
You don't have to find out your unit, which department to call and who to speak to. Everything will be done for you. -

turn myself in?dunno leh...I no need to take my 2nd year IPPT/SOC in unit because by that time downgraded to C9L2 temp...then when I about to ORD...they give me C2L3 perm...then send me to take a 2-weeks veh/weapon storeman course...after that I go back to unit...be GE storeman for a month then clear leave and ORD...so I not too fit to do combat duties but no experience as a storeman....go back also blur...

and the problem is since I went for storeman course...I didnt go for conversion course with the rest of my combat platoon...so from what I understand...the equipment that I used to work with has been phased out or something... -
Hey...wat's the deal? I've still got 4 in-camps to go before ATEC II, and then another 3 ICTs before i can shriek: ORD lor!
Seriously, this is a wake up call for those who 'take cover' or hope your SAF particulars got burned down along with their S1 record room...
Clear your ICT asap, do the cycle and get out. That's the best solution.
I don't fancy ICT either, but it's part of training and it helps keep fit at the same time. Can't be all that bad...
