Any combat medics here? Wads training of combat medic like? Wad do we learn? Wads typical day in camp like? Is it both mentally n physical demanding?

Let's see... you're supposed to get ten successful shots during combat medic course. But I willingly volunteered my arms to bobo shooters (2-3 shots total per session), so I got around 20.Originally posted by monoslayer:cos u r a junkie.

In my unit my MO demanded that we regularly hone our shooting skills at each other. And adding that to medic proficiency tests and other training, I got another twenty in my 1 1/2 years in my unit.
And damnit, I can still see the track marks on my forearms. -

During my time, the 12-week combat medic course (CMC) was split into two parts: Paramedic Phase (6 weeks) and Combat Medic Phase (6 weeks).
In the Paramedic Phase, you will be learning the exact same syllabus as the SCDF Level I Paramedics. It focuses more on civillian paramedic procedures. There will still be PT lessons, of course... you can never escape PT in the Army. At the end of this phase, you will get your Paramedic Level I certificate.
In the Combat Medic Phase, you will be learning first aid procedures similar to the paramedic phase, but this time in a military context. For example, you'll learn stuff like setting up a BCS, casualty evacuation through obstacles, etc.
Generally I'd say the course was pretty slack during my time. The tough part comes after you pass out from the course - you'll be expected to carry a stretcher and MOP on top of your SBO during missions. Your SBO attire will pretty much be like other people's FBO. -

The actual "PARAMEDIC" badge - only Paramedic Level 3 i.e. Spec I people get it. -

Basically, service medics don't have to take part in the outfield component of the combat medic phase. They just observe us from one side while we combat medics go chiong out in the jungle.But they still have to learn medical center procedures, etc. -
need to go thru bslc...as the last ever normal specII course started last august...now need to go thru BSLC like all specs..(eg. Arty,signals,ADA,MP)
then to 4mth modified spec course...involving med ctr attachment...hospital a&e and SCDF attachment...tests are to be passed with higher passing marks...
my batch Pt-ed almost everyday between bouts of studying..once clear paramedic phase comes the slacker(in terms of studying) combat medic phase....
want slack...go rifle coy be coy medic...some say ams 'advocates' are slacker...
want siong...go med ctr be 2ic..
this is my opinion anywaes....
most of the times medics learn to be self-reliant in units as nobody cares much abt us... -
pray that u don't kana guard duty. the guard duty system at nee soon is screwed up.
the only good thing is u get to use the computer for internet or for games. (but not sure whether or not the computer is still functioning now though)
