NS Camps: Are Camera Phones Allowed?

With camera handphones all over the place, is it possible to bring one into camp for use. I mean for Nsmen/ reservists who owns hp with digital camera how should it be if we cannot bring it into camp for use? Any particular rules in the army to enforce that?

I got rumours from mindef, WEF 25th sept 2006, the no camera phone rule will be even more strictly enforced.
Also read from another forum, the memory card slot of your phone must not contain any memory card. I know it sounds duh but, rules are rules.
Most reservists I know own a spare phone minus all that funky sh|t. -
The ST and TODAY news articles have brought to alot of attention to the army videos on Youtube.
I'm sure the SAF is taking measures to clamp down on cameraphones... so I think you can test the system at your own risk.
I'm not sure abt the policy on reservists and cameraphones.
Better call them and check before you go for reservist. -
And at the same time, individual units are practising more relaxed camera phone rules.
Frankly, this is idiotic. What they should do is paste a security sticker when you enter camp, and record it. If the sticker is broken, detain the guy when booking out and check his videos/photos/data etc.
Simple and sweet. -
The SAF got to be more creative to tackle such issues. You can't stop people from advancing with technology, you just got to be smarter. Putting a seal is a good idea. Maybe, we can help brainstorm for more solutions.
I wonder what phones CDF and the other Chiefs carry ??? -

So the new rules apply to all SAF staff including Officer ( no matter how high rank they r? ) and NUSAF? I have seen a NUSAF admin clerk using N70 few months back while I went back to collect my COA.

I don't mind having a semi- permanenet seal. Maybe, I might use my camera once or twice a year only. I don't need the camera, but my phone comes with it. The question is not whether camera phones are allowed ot not in camps, it's because the enforcement and implementation are not strong as we are expected to exercise mindfulness and due responsibility for having such equipment in camps... MINDEF has to crank down such things now is because of the small group of servicemen who abused their mindfulness and not exercising their due responsibility that made MINDEF to legislate the rule...

I also think that not all units / camps must disallow the camera. maybe just some areas, but with the kiasu syndrome, no cameras allowed at all.
