I'm going down under for wallaby during nov/dec period.. Anyone care to share tips on what personal items and how much money to bring to enjoy a reasonable amount of comfort there?? Btw, I'm a smoker.. What's the ciggie prices like over there??

The beer is cheap can drink all you want....There nothing much to buy....not like ROC.....but got a lot of stripclubs....bring $$$ if u want lap dance...
anyway there got a lot of ATM in town (not in camp)....so maybe all u need is ur credit/debit card.....den bring enuff cash for canteen food and beers can liao.... -
That place is so hot that you can't stay in you tent after 6am in the morning. By the way, you sleep in a tent meant for 10 to 16 men.
Night time is pleasant if you have time to laze around the make shift canteen. Beer is cheap but dun drink too much otherwise the hangover in the hot sun next day will be jialat.
Cigarettes is very ex. Dun smoke if if can.
Day off in Rocky (Rockhampton Town) is short. You probably have ONE day off to buy your stuff as you probably have no time during your R&R.
R&R is usually a night stay. The "Educational Tour" will take up the whole day leaving you just a few hours at night to walk the town. BTW, it will be good if you can "inform" the clubs and bars when you R&R night is. Otherwise you may end up walking in a dead town especially on a Monday night.
Next morning, you will probably be picked up at 7am to go to the airport.

bring much for canteen food. no jokes. the meal is not nice so canteen foods is best.
i miss the motel there. still remember caught a movie over there Charlie angels. -

if u want to sleep in the day time, sleep inside the sleeping bag provided. it is much cooler.

Do not bring any valuable items as there are no locker to keep the belongings ... even for the weapons, everyone just dump it beside our safari bed without locking it ... btw, I'm a NS men ... if you are a NSF, probably, you will need to look after your weapon at all times ...
There isn't any entertainment except at the canteen where movies will be shown on the big plasma TV .. beer and coke are of the same price at A$1.50. H/p reception only also available at the camp ... once you hit the training area, there isn't any reception anymore ...
There is another camp at the north of Shoal Water Bay which is the Camp Growl -
By the way, if u happen lost ur way in aus town....can always find Singaporean under the adult section in any bookshop or emart...sure wun miss them.....

Super dog. oak milk and beer!!! haha... the shop at ur campsite will sell food twice as much as they sell outside. But no choice. It's haven to have fresh cold milk and piping hot superdog.

Dude, bring a mask and goggles. You're gonna need them. It'll be 100X much worse than the haze. Other than that, be prepared for sudden rains and flash floods. I won't worry too much abt the RnR when you've other sh*t to worry abt.

yup, the sudden rains is really terrifying ... you can see those storm clouds from far and approaching ... the next moment, the rain comes and goes off quickly ... the average temperature in the day time was about 41ºC, that was accordingly to the trainers ... the amazing thing in the training area is even though under scorching heat from the sun, the breeze was cool ...Originally posted by Obersturmfuhrer:Other than that, be prepared for sudden rains and flash floods.

cos last year there was some protest by some hippies regarding the enviroment in SWBTA. so SAF cut short ur RnR.
