BMT recourse depend on many issues,u need to pass your BMT FFI 1st before they are able to send u for recourse, hence if u fail your FFI,u will just stay in your unit continue u ord without passing BMT at all.U can also defer your BMT recourse if your superior need u badly , your unit need u to be in your postiion or your unit is lack of manpower .Originally posted by Don©:Thanks for the advice guys, i didn't expect NS to worsen my injury to this extend. I was told by my PS that i might get recoursed, but i doubt my wrist can take the training. So if i fail my recourse, or injured my wrist again, i would be stuck at bmt phrase forever?
Anyway what vocations do ppl like me get when I can't even hold anything for more than 5 mins with my right hand.
Which might mean that he would be likely to be attached to a less physical department if he is OOCed.Originally posted by Gordonator:hey Kenplus, i just remember that Don is mono-intake at 30SCE. that means your advice above isn't suitable for him cos initially we thought he's at BMTC.
I OOC during my first BMT due to a leg injury, but I was not downgraded or anything. After you OOC, you will still be post out (most likely) to another school to learn other trades. For me, I go OETI and become armourer aka gun repair man. If your hand consistently has problem, very likely you get posted to log school or other become clerk or PA. After that, by right, eventually you will get posted back to BMT for recourse. But lots of people can skip the whole BMT thing or simply get OOC again for the same reason. For me, I got back to BMT because I wanted to and had volunteered for it. But lots of my peers never went back at all.Originally posted by Don©:Sorry for sounding so deperate but i'll be booking in soon, so please bear with me.
I sustained a pretty bad injury during my PTP and now i can't really move my right wrist. It swells up every now and then and I am on painkillers everyday. It was an old dislocation injury 5 yrs ago that caused my right wrist to be injury prone, and this is the 4th time i had injured it.
I was refered to a hand specialist at NUH by the MO and was told that it was most likely a torn ligament and inflammation around the wrist area. I was given a splint, 3 weeks of attend B and mid to long term hand therapy.
The qns is how can i complete my BMT with the injury, it hurts even before the injury when i tried to do chin ups and push ups or even lifting up the duffel bag. I sounded it to the MO at cmbp during my medical checkup but the MO didn't really bother and just asked a few qns.
I have difficulty adapting the use of my left hand to have my meals, area cleaning and other simple tasks. And everyday im at the sideline with other guys on status watching them train, which is pretty depressing.
Will I be OOC cos i really don't wanna keep retaking BMT my whole 2 years. Any advice?
Furthermore i'll be continuing my studies after NS and my course requires a fully working pair of hands. I'm afraid further injury or strain might eventually result in disablilty. I feel so down and out
Yes he can. And if either of the hospital gave him a checkup and had further medical report, make sure that your son forward them to his MO when he book in.Originally posted by neo2:hi, i am a newbie here. hope someone can enlighten me with these question. my son was recently enlisted. unfortunately, just into the 2nd week of his ptp, he woke up one morning with great pain on his knee cap. he reported sick and was given 3 days mc (light duties) and given painkillers. the pain did not go away and was given another 2 days mc. his leg has begun to swell. this morning, according to his sms, he reported sick again. he was told to go either tan tok seng hospital or alexandra hospital when he book out.
1) is it correct that he can just go and see a doctor without any refer letter?
Adding on to Wisefool83's suggestion, I would advice you accompany your son to the hospital. It is better for him and do make sure he submits everything to the MO at BMTC.Originally posted by neo2:hi, i am a newbie here. hope someone can enlighten me with these question. my son was recently enlisted. unfortunately, just into the 2nd week of his ptp, he woke up one morning with great pain on his knee cap. he reported sick and was given 3 days mc (light duties) and given painkillers. the pain did not go away and was given another 2 days mc. his leg has begun to swell. this morning, according to his sms, he reported sick again. he was told to go either tan tok seng hospital or alexandra hospital when he book out.

Actually maybe they meant to go to the A&E there to get a referal. They can get you appointments way faster then the army can.The army takes about 3 weeks......I got my appt over 1 weekend after i went to see A&E.Just say it's alot of pain and u cant slp cant do anything and demand an appt ASAP.And it's covered under 11b.You will pay nothing if you do this.Otherwise you have to pay 20% i think.Originally posted by LazerLordz:Adding on to Wisefool83's suggestion, I would advice you accompany your son to the hospital. Please also make sure the specialist at AH gives him a detailed diagnosis too. Sometimes they may forget. But as a private patient (which your son will be, without a referral letter), it is better because your son's specialist will be the same one throughout the case until your son's knee heals.
You can always come back here if you have any queries. The BMT FAQ and the PES Status FAQs are good threads to post in too. Or you can choose to PM any of the moderators.
Hope your son gets well fast
