hey ppl.. i was surfing friendster juz now, then came across this profile of a 24 yr old female airforce officer.. not bad looking 1.. then in 1 of the pix, she n 3 other ladies were holding skinned quails..
find this kinda disturbing leh.. need 2 kill animals during ocs ar? i faintly recall i posted something similar b4 somewhere else, but can't remember liao..

It's a part of SERE, Survival, Escape, Recovery and Evasion.
Survival training requires you to live off the land when you are behind the Main Supply Route(MSR) or enemy lines. What is taught to them is the painless way of killing edible animals for meat.
This is the Army, and ours is already considered sanitised. -

Me? Nope. I'm not an officer nor did I have to go for Jungle Confidence Course..
I personally am not too keen about doing it. I can think of alternatives but I guess realistically speaking, if you've got to do it, do it clean and make sure the poor creature is painless. -
my fren refused to kill a quail during his JCC. he told the conducting officer straight in the face tat he dun c the point of killing an animal jus for the sake for a badge. he was prepared to OOC. RESPECT!
yup. he was still awarded the badge in the end. -

i imagined if we were to fight in the war, in the jungle, den we with our rifles hiding, hungry and without food and water.

i saw this live during my guards bmt. they were teaching those guards specs how to kill animals for survival. by right we are not suppose to go there but our csm allow us to go there watch. even our sergeanst also never see before cos they are those bmt sergeants that move around de. they taught them how kill animals like chicken, python, frog etc... it is all part of the survival training.
i still rmb how they kill the chicken. grab the head and swing it in a circular motion forcefully till the body fly out. after the head is out, you still can see the headless chicken running around for a few seconds. -

but i dun see gt any problems cuz i oso eat meat right? chickens, pork, beef, etc. they oso killed by someone or something else.
its another fact of life, dat animals are being killed for our consumption.
and its not good in not knowing where our food comes from. -

Air Force officers might need to go through JCC if they are pilots(can someone confirm?) and if they are attached out to another type of land unit which I can't really say.

I think for the RSAF pilots its JST (jungle survival training) correct me if im wrong...
not as demanding as JCC, but just to prep pilots on what to do, survival tips and all that if they get downed...
As for killing animals...killed frogs and eels during CST...i know it's cruel lah, but looking at the frog with it's tongue hanging out after knocking it out....damn funny lor. -
