Typically if a corporal takes on the role of a SC, then he will himself locally promoted to 3SG provided he served sufficient time in that capacity.

Wait, that meant each roles you need sufficient time to serve for roles.
Do you know the duration hours who must served as Corporal after locally promoted to Sargeant, Do you? -
thn do any of u guys have a formation of how a battalion or how a section will look like?

If i don't remember wrongly, it is 4 months of CPL before proceeding to L/3SG -

i know of this SC who was a CPL. He went thru Sispec without been awarded 3SG rank, as he was ranked last.

In the past they still stay as corporal as they did not clear the veto factor and thus recourse.
Recently, beacuse of the NS cut, most units try to reduce recoursees, so maybe his case is that he did not clear a veto factor and thus can't be promoted but Sispec can't recourse him either. -

In the good old days, of which I was a part of it, the SAFINCOS ( Sispec's predecessor) section commander "graduation" rank was Corporal. Those who failed SOC , IPPT or some other major test will not graduate as CPL. They will be given Lance Corporal. They cannot attend the passing out ceremony ( which is a form of punishment). I am not surprised to hear that today's Sispec will not award the rank of 3SG to trainees if they fail one major test. And that the trainee will leave Sispec with one rank lower than the establishment. -
My batch got 2 did not pass shooting and pass out as LCP while the rest got 3SG. Eventually, they passed and got their 3 straps.

Last i heard, tat CPL SC remained as CPL.....apparently in his unit, he did not prove competent enuff......looked down by everyone from OC to men

under-50% of knowledge based test
Not attaining silver for IPPT,
under-50% for field performance
not passing SOC.
I think the only thing you can really fail is IPPT and SOC. -

You know why the rank was lowest than the other? Two reason he did not paassed the test,
The other the standard was high in the army. I believe for us to succeed, We need a set a standard -

the LTA may b doing his CTC.
They haf to rotate roles..... some lta may even haf to take up roles of MG gunner. -

What happened in my unit once was that all specialist have to go for a Commander's training conducted by RSM.
So the officers have to fill in the Specialist roles...
so happened that when they were going to conduct a training, there was a surpirse audit by GSI.
all hell broke loose after since the officers did not foresee and "skipped" to check the routine checks specialist would have done for them.
Coy 2IC, OC, S3 and CO all got a good one from GSI. they stayed tiill 8pm to give these ppl a good one.
