You might want to, very loosely, compare them to the PAP youth wing instead.
NCC on the other hand, is a paramilitary group focused on personal discipline and pride. I very much doubt that any sane general would even consider deploying them in the event of a war. -

He wasn't comparing SAF's standing army to USMC.
His point was that NCC land is equivalent if not, superior to regular SAF soldiers. I fail to see the sense in that. -
I am not sure though, the way, he phrases it, it sorta tells me that he's trying to say NCC people grow up to be good soldiers (???) lol haha

Don't get me wrong, I am still glad I served in the army; & i know that i am (relatively) well equipped with basic soldiering skills should my country call on my services. then again, that dosen't necessarily mean that i don't htink NS was a waste of tiem either.
BUT, not even in my most fervent mood before NS, would i ever diss regular soldiers. For one, their 2 (or 2.5) years have been served and done. That alone i think, deserves some manner of commendation.
Whether those years were spent khenging is another matter altogether... -

1) who will defend the country if not the students?
