Does people with mental problems (OCD, anxiety, depression) get exemption from NS or are they treated as everybody else?
What happens if a person with OCD, anxiety and depression cannot undergo the NS with the military training, like refuse to jump from high places because of his OCD, anxiety, depression? Is he canned? -
Mentally problem will be classified as medical problem too.
Will definately affect ur pes status.

If you've got any of the aforementioned, you're unlikely to find yourself in the position of having to jump from high places.
With a diagnosis of OCD, you'll just get assigned to polish boots for Guard of Honour contingents.

they are a tricky bunch of people. on one hand u cannot put in physically demanding combat vocations, on the another hand u cannot put them in mentally demanding vocations as well, like clerks.

I know of one such guy (a storeman) who have some mental problem. It was said that he was being knocked down by a car when he was 12 and resulted in him being in this state. However he managed to get a NITEC cert in office skills.
His PES is E1L9 and when he first came to the unit his suprior want to write a letter to MINDEF requesting for early release for that guy but he don't want, claiming that he might have difficuities finding a job without doing NS.
Got one occasion he complained to his psycho in MMI that his superior is treating him unwell and in the end his unit's S3, RSM and his direct superior kenna warning letter from the MMI.
When this guy is being 'provoked' he can shout like a maddog otherwise he is quite normal i'll say. -

Today morning , I have seen the shrink at SGH 's outpatient clinic .
he said I have social phobia and i forgot to ask him wad PES i am likely to get .
but I mailed the blue form back to CMPB with his diagnosis and medical report .
any1 knoes wad PES I will get ?
the doc said he will also inform the CMPB personally .
does that mean exemption ? -
Whatever PES you were going to get without the diagnosis.
Or did you think you're there to socialise with the enemy? -

Downgrade will also go through the normal medical board proceedings. I.e, your doctor will recommend you for downgrade, BUT the SAF will still convene a medical board consist of SAF's own specialist (also a psychiartrist) usually a COL acoompany by several officers (CPT, MAJ, LTC) also in the same field to assess and final give the downgrade or upgrade.Originally posted by Taiwanpolitics:huh .

Why? Because of chow kengsters. With this medical board in place, these kengsters will get their "rewards" they deserve:
A "nice and comfortable" place with compliements of extended stay in detention barracks. -

The practice of psychiatric medicine is very very subjective. Hence there must be proper check and balances to ensure that the doctors conduct themselves professionally. IIRC The head of Adam Road Dr. Wong Yip Chong was orginally from IMH but left to start his own hospital due to differing views with the IMH authorities. Can you tell me who does regular checks on him? I am pretty sure MOH does not spot-check private practises regularly unless there are complaints.
Besides don't you think a certified government psychiatrist's reccommendation would carry more weight than a private ones?
