Thanks to a review resulting from almost four years of research, dress accessories have been added to the No. 4 or combat-dress uniform.
Four years of research and we are taking a step backwards... By stitching on highly visible patches.
Said the Weapons Staff Warrant Officer with Headquarters Guards: "With this tag, soldiers from other countries can see straightaway that we're from Singapore, so it makes it easier for us to interact with them."
So can the enemy.
The Admin Support Assistant with the Army's General Staff unit said: "These badges show to the public that I belong to this particular unit."
Okay lar. I doubt snipers would shoot ASAs. Also make it easier to identify which units are operating in the area as well.
Congratulations SAF. You've forgotten Murphy's rule of combat to uniforms. "The side with the simplest uniform wins." Want to wayang also dun wayang overboard... remember that ultimately the SAF still has to fight and win.
PS: Many US soldiers, albeit marine or army, rip off unecessary insignias, tags and rank in combat. Only their formation badge (eg 101st airborne badge etc) remains. And even that doesn't stick out like a sore thumb.
