  my time, the CO sent a letter to my father, to tell him that i got the award and thank my family for the support to the servicemen allowing them to give their "best".
  
  i would have prefer another extra day off instead.........esp when my father cannot read english anyway...........

  my unit only has the best for the YEAR.

  usually its to appease whoever didn't get promoted
  and even if someone got it other than that reason, no one knows why he's the best for year since everyone is slogging like dogs equally
