Sandhurst doesn't provide academic education per se, at least not education as it is commonly perceived. It provides leadership training and training in military tactics.Originally posted by SpecOps87:Just curious...what about those whom are not commissioned in the local OCS? But rather the British Sandhurst Military Academy or West Point in US? Do they provide an education there as well? I read in the career website, and am quite keen on those actually.
the award is used to be called the Overseas Military Training Award (MTA), now is known as SAF Academic Training Award- Military (SAS-Military).Originally posted by SpecOps87:Just curious...what about those whom are not commissioned in the local OCS? I think westpoint does provide some form of education. The officer course at west point, I think is a few years whereas the sandhurst course is about a year.
If you want to go to Sandhurst, you will need to pass the RCB, which will invovle some fitness tests (what I've heard is that you want to be running sub 9:30 2.4s), participation in command tasks (eg this is a river, these are planks, get your team acoss w/o toucing the river), and participation in a Mapex. Not easy to pass at all.
