depends on his vocation actually and the type of training he receives.
To don a Guards beret, you have to pass GCC and inducted into Guards. But you may pass GCC and not have a Guards vocation, in which case you wear a Guards Tab but not a Guards baret.
same thing for Commando. only that commando don't have a tab.
A storeman/clerk might have some combat infantry traning before posted to Commando unit, in which case he can wear a green baret but most will choose not to. -
all vocations in infantry units will wear the green beret, regardless of their training. not sure about armour though, maybe we can get fellow armourers to advise on this?
i have a question. the RPs in guards and commando units, are they pure RPs by vocation or are they guards/commando as well? -
Pure RP. for guards and commando (guards not too sure) will wear service side beret- blue. unless you complete 72km route march. Armour for what I know even B vehicle drivers wear black *envy envy*

yes.. all posted to an armour unit wears the black beret. From RPs, clerks, storeman to our COA, all will wear the black beret.

I've never seen a non-blue beret RP before. As in the "men." Last time I went to bedok camp, I saw their RP with blue beret as well, just that they go that extra backing behind their crest.
All personnel in Armour wear black beret regardless of vocation. Once armour, always armour/suffer. LOL! I was lucky to be a blue beret! -
