Gore-tex jackets cannot be sewn, every joints must be patched with another Gore-tex membrane with glue. If the join is sewn, then it must be patched.
As for Gore-tex material, all Gore-tex jacket use the same materials as any other rain jacket (Nylon), the only difference is the membrane layer.
The shell is Nylon. The Gore-tex is Polytetrafluroethylene (PTFE) membrane. -

Wow, new generation SAF soldier is lucky. You have Gore Tex now. When I went to Taiwan in the winter, we were issued smelly and mouldy padded winter jackets. THey are not waterproof. ANd when they get wet, it is difficult to dry. End up smelling of old damp clothes !

i've used it here in tokyo against 3 typhoons. keeps you dry, and surprisingly, warm too. so warm that i sometimes grab the goretex instead of a sweater/jacket. not as heavy and easier to take off.Originally posted by martin_lim85:be could it be wore as windbreaker? -

heard that there're actually goretex pants that goes with the jacket. but never really seen them before.

was issued the pants before too. all black, no camo.
had to return them immediately after use. -

i think instead of jacket, they should come out with a goretex poncho. one that cover from head to knee. cos the jacket only covers the upper half of the body, our pants will still get wet.
