  apparently they nid to serve as well if they are released before some age.

  I got a old NSF camp mate. He was jail while serving his NSF ( 1994 ) and send to Changi Prison. Still he must served extra few mths of his remaining NSF due to his few mths stay in prison. But hor, he no need to do reservist!
  
  Clementi Camp, go see urself how many of the NSF there r formerly from boyz home group. One NSF I see almost every morning at the bus stops below the Clementi MRT, had body tattoos from his neck all the way down ...... behaves like a problem child

  My friend just came out from prison less than a month back. He is 23.
  
  He received the enlistment letter but went in for 4 years.
  
  So yeah now he is exempted.
