I thought you read books such as "US Navy SEAL training" or "The SAS workout"?Originally posted by SpecOps87:Hi All,
I've got like 1.5yrs to go before I enlist. I'm wandering if its too late to start building and conditioning my body to the training. Can someone like recommend to me a Strength and Endurance Building which is progressive in nature?
In my sec.school days I used to be able to climb the low ropes element in SBO and with a dummy rifle using purely my arm power, w/o any assistance from me legs except during the beginning. My NAPFA/IPPT scores last taken when I was 17 is as follows: 2.4Km-10.15min, Shuttle Run-10.2sec, Standing Broad Jump-2.43m, Pull-Ups-9, Sit & Reach-67cm, Sit-ups-58.
I'm trying to regain or even improve my strength and endurance.
Thanks!
I mean my strength aspect, I hope to be able to be like last-time, using nothing but pure arm-power to climb. Swam today after lessons, ha, 22laps at the pool.First time in a loooong time man.Originally posted by storywolf:do more long distance running and swimming laps.
Strength - you seem ok but endurance - your 2.4 seem weak.
Endurance is also a lot on the mind. Will only build up only if you push your self, usually only in long distance running and swimming. Doing it under the hot sun will also make a lot different.
You thought, I think, who confirm?I'm actually reading mil.history these days. The Face of Battle, On War etc.Originally posted by Marco_Simone:I thought you read books such as "US Navy SEAL training" or "The SAS workout"?

why does the swimming event in triathlons last for such a short time only?Originally posted by madcampus:your results are above average liao, just train a little bit more, ippt gold is well within reach. but if you wanna excel more than just a gold, i suggest you go for triathlon and marathon training. here are links to our local fitness buff enthusiasts...

for the ultimate challenge is to complete a physical grueling, mental torturing ironman event with...
swim - 3.8km
cycle - 180km
run - 42km
navy seal? sas? do look wider...
Thanks for the share. The fitness requirements for a athlete and a soldier is very much different. But being an athlete certainly takes more discipline than a soldier in terms of the diet, work out programme etc. I'm actually trying to incorporate 2 X of 1.5 km swims into my tight weekly schedule. Hope to be able to do more though. Wow...the Ironman event...haha, mebbe in a few years hopefully.Originally posted by madcampus:your results are above average liao, just train a little bit more, ippt gold is well within reach. but if you wanna excel more than just a gold, i suggest you go for triathlon and marathon training. here are links to our local fitness buff enthusiasts...

ya lor, stay in suxxx... no freedom, n the bunk suxx, so boring nothing to do, n worse still if have to put up wif irritating bunkmates.Originally posted by Marco_Simone:a caveat:being in top physical condition don't mean you are fit to be a soldier.
Last time in my BMT platoon, got this national swimmer guy who chao geng all the way until he out of course and became transport supervisor.
Why he chao geng? Coz he cannot stand staying in...
I myself cannot stand staying in camp also.
