Hello friend, i wear out more fieldpacks then you wear out your phucking green socks. So put a SOCK in it, STOOKY!Originally posted by STUU:ya lor... dun be an EXTRA la!!

WHO PAY ??Originally posted by acwire_2125:haha, well, it does feel more comfortable wearing those non-SAF issue boots and stuff. Besides, those brands has the customers interest at heart and therefore will make things that are good and worth the money. Those made for the SAF are only good to the government, that is cheap and mass produce.
Well, I believe that if the SAF allow people to use non-SAF stuff for their gear, that would increase the morale of the soldiers.
how is that possible?Originally posted by acwire_2125:Well, I believe that if the SAF allow people to use non-SAF stuff for their gear, that would increase the morale of the soldiers.
Well, The Taxpayer of course! But that's the time in NS when you can get as much money as you pay as a taxpayer!Originally posted by KoolKool:WHO PAY ??
Well, for starters, you may feel more comfortable in the goods that you ahve bought and may indirectly affect your morale. Besides that, you will feel more confident of the product which you bought is a tried and tested by those in a real war zone.Originally posted by Gordonator:how is that possible?

Well, SAF is very much still a NSF force and they ain't many commited NSFs to create a huge enough market for independant makers to make non-approved equipment of good quality (Sheares seems to be the only one in the market)Originally posted by KoolKool:I am for good quality stuff, which helps in operations and training. More comfort, more durable = more confidence.
But please check before you start using them. I heard that if you use non-approved equipment and you get injured during training, there is no compensation. This is good to prevent soldiers from buying their own lousy stuff and endangering their lives. But it also prevents soldiers from getting the best and excel in their training.
In future, I would like to see the SAF putting up a specification, then allow vendors to qualify their products. These approved products can then be on the eMart shelves and the soldiers are free to decide how much they want to pay for their needs. Its free market, isn't it? Why should SAF decides to buy lousy stuff and insist the soldiers use them. Don't soldiers have the basic rights to their equipment ?
Actually, there are equipment out there that meets and exceeds the SAF requirements. There is no need to specially create them for the SAF. Where do you think the SAF gets their equipment made from ? Cheap made-in-China copies of originals from equally cheapskate suppliers.Originally posted by Ponders:Well, SAF is very much still a NSF force and they ain't many commited NSFs to create a huge enough market for independant makers to make non-approved equipment of good quality (Sheares seems to be the only one in the market)
During my NSF time i did spend abit to better my equipment, having a good torchlight, field pack with Lock&lock lunch boxes (thus replacing ziplocs), among other things..
I do feel that some of SAF's items are procured with the procuring officer not knowing much of the items's quality.
