How is enlistment date determined?

is the enlistment date dependent on when
- you went for your medical?
- your birthday?
or isit totally random? -
i think most probably birthday but there are exceptions. for instance, majority of the people in my batch are born at the end of the year, but i'm one of the exceptions, i was born at the starting of the year.

i heard many people saying that there is a relationship between birthday and enlistment date.
but again, it is kind of illogical. -

i was almost enlisted earlier than i'm supposed to due to my birthday in january. they bloody think im one year older than my peers, had to go down cmpb several times to settle my deferment back then with an officer.
