SAF Military Driver Driving Course/ Military Vehicle Licence

say I'm sent for class 3 millitary driving course. after that am I supposed to be equipped with the skills that i need to drive with a civilian license?
can I immediatedly take the civilian class 3 driving test or whatever. without taking any more civilian driving lessons? -
I believe u hab to clock a certain mileage for ur military lic then can convert to civilian not before that.

Not sure of the system now. Last time, I drove my driving instructor's car for my driving test.
So if I am a driving instructor, and you did not take any lessons with me, I will not let you take my car for the test. I will not know if my car will come back in one piece.

To convert you need to clock 7000km on your military licence. -
can check with ur army drvier instructor,.
But it is true that u need to clock certain mileage for civilian license. -

Most of the time, it's up to the discretion of the MTO and S4. Sometimes even if you have an accident-free record, but due to your poor disciplinary record, they can choose not to give you.Originally posted by Gordonator:must one stay accident-free as well? even mirror ones? -
if you have driving experience in the army but can't clock enough mileage to gain a civilian license, then go outside and take private. coz for school, you need to complete the acquired lessons to book the test. on the other hand for private, you can book the test straight away regardless of lessons.
this method also applies to those who kenna "kan tong" license for various reasons. coz they already have the driving experience, just need to practice abit for the test. -

Muz clock 7000km,then accident free... And when u go out on the road,most users will let u wan except for some lah...

which camp are you in?
clocking 7k is easy.
the drivers at my side clock 3k plus within months - of cause they're moving out almost everyday...
throw in field camps and exercises, clocking milage isn't all that hard.
me? i chose to OOC driving course and took up civilian class 3 instead and i'm happily driving into camp now instead

said drivers who go wallaby in australia clock 1k a day. haha. like 500km from point to point =s -

Me nw at sembawang camp... Field camps and exercises are simply quite hard to clock milage.. Cuz once u reach the place,u are like nua all the way till they go back to camp... just started for 1 month and i got abt 2500, i considered very slack already. come my unit for 2 months sure got enough to get lisence.

TS,if u are in OPS unit,very easy to clock milage... If u are not in OPS unit,very hard de,cuz in non-OPS unit,got many drivers and very little detail to go.but if u are in OPS unit,very fast u can clock the milage,...

1 . Starting of de driving course , u will be send to kaki bukit , where u will learn to drive landrover in de circuit ... after which u will either go back to sawbawang camp or stay at kaki bukit camp , for ur class 4 driving (which is a 3-ton) also u will learn how to drive a 5-ton and learn some simple towing .
after you passout from driving school , u will be posted to unit (with ur class 3,4 military driving license)
To convert to civilian license , you must have at least clock 7000km , and they will give u your civilian license when u ord.
for accident usually , see wether its major one or not , if those type of minor one , usually ur mto or co close one eye , and wont let the matter leave camp.
but if its a major accident u wont get ur civilian license when u ord.
Also to add , it doesnt mean that you clock 7000 km and stay accident free , you will get ur civilian license , your discipline is important , your mto , Oc or even Co if buay song your face , u wont get ur civilian license , it happened to 2 of my army friends.
anyway for me , after getting my military license , i straight away when to enroll for my class3 at ssdc , when for 9 or 10 practs i already got 33 chop and pass my tp test de 1st time .... When i was posted to unit , i think out of all de drivers only those with civilian license had a very relaxing life , only do simple office work , and dont need to be in de rat race and carry the transport sup and mto balls , to let them go out for details.
AnYway ORD oN june 2004 , DONT know all this still the same or not. -
for my last time camp at seletar , mileage was very hard to get with , 40 drivers fighting for mileage , cos my unit most of the time training all in-camp , in-camp most to most i give your 4 or 5km only if u round around like siao , and also out-camp also most of de time go nee-soon camp , if im not wrong is 12km or 15km , the most mileage you get is when u go to safti for range , or go to salarang camp .
Most of the time the top 2 who earn the most mileage for the day is the duty-driver and de admin driver . -

hi.. just wondering how long does it take to get yr license from the day u submited yr mileage for conversion.
