Deferment headache

Hi guys
I have ICT coming up from Dec 11th(next Mon)-Dec 22nd. Today, I was offered a job and was asked to start tmr. I told my boss abt my reservist n he said that he will write a deferment letter for me. So I`ll still be starting my new job tmr. But I understand that it will take 2 weeks for the deferment process to complete. So seeing mine as an urgent matter with 1 week to ICT, will it be possible to get deferred on time? Tmr,I`m faxing my supporting docs to CMPB..hopefully something gd will come out of it.
This job I got..I consider myself lucky cos I have not been able to secure a full-time job for the past few months until NOW. And I cant let this opportunity slip thru my fingers. I`m worried that he will nvr let me wait till my reservist finish and will give it to sumbody else. It has been so bloody difficult to find a job.
Do I still stand a chance of getting deferred? Or is there anyway I can fax it straight to CO himself? -

Yes I know CO is my last resort..but when I wana email him, his email got error!! Argh!!

Hmmm yes CO is your only last resort. If your deferment process is not complete by the time of your ICT, request time off from your work and go report for ICT in the morning. Meet up with your CO and explain it to him with the relevant documents and proof.Originally posted by faizal82:Hi guys

Most of the time, CO will allow you to leave. Unless the ICT is super important. -
deferment is on a first-come-first-serve basis.
write in early and you will stand a chance.

Yep, thats wat the Customer Svc Officer at CMPB told me. If deferment not approved by the time ICT start, must go there, meet CO and show proof of employment and hope for the best. I dun wana be like bringing all my barang2 unnecessarily cos the camp is in Tuas man!! I stay in the East. Is this your first ICT? if it is then most probably he will let u go. : ( My boss called me up and said that he will give my job to somebody else instead..I knew this would happen.. and I was close to securing a full-time job after such a long time..why why why...

You C CO also no use, you have to look for your S1 and company OC to make it faster as at the end of the day its these 2 people that can issue u the official deferment mouth say no use you should quickly contact your unit S1 and your NS company OC to grant the deferment stating that you just found the job and fax the letter to them ASAP

We should have laws that punish employers who practise discrimination in such a manner.
At the very least, our threadstarter should have an avenue to seek redress, like an industrial arbitration commission, citing discrimination. -

Aiyah ........... you should have told your Boss that the deferment will be granted if he could just write in.
COs have the final approval but there are guidelines to assist him to make these decisions.
Business / economy will supercede everything, including politics and NS. The Government need votes during election, and the country needs income, so the Government can spend them and get a good salary.

If I recall correctly, they will not touch a NSman if he strongly request for deferment within 6 months of new employment, and 1 year if someone starts his own business.
