This field pack and LBV are issued to the PTP/BMT recruits starting from this batch, from what I hear. It's pretty new even to the instructors.

that doesn't make sense leh ... cos not everyone would need the LBVs, no ? ...
arty chaps, combat engineers ... wouldn't an LBV be an encumberance to them ?

aren't it a waste of money considering not all of the recruits will get into combatant vocations. some vocations might not even requires them to wear SBO at all. -

The LBV i dunno havent seen. But 3SIR still giving them out as personal issue -

this is a men's one. specalist and officer have couple of extra pouches. -
The LBV looks the same but the top of the field pack is different from what tfcheng posted. As for accuracy, I believe it's pretty accurate; otherwise, go take a look in Pasir Ris whenever recruits book out.Originally posted by Gordonator:how accurate is this?

as far as i see, still the new version of the old fieldpack(longer side pockets) instead of the new ones similar to wat i posted.
i also duno if the one issued to me was for my camp only or wat as there's a stupid spartan logo there. anyway im bringing that to thailand tomorrow!

Anyway I think while the waterbag is good and allows drinking on the go, I was wondering if it would be susceptible to sharpnel (ie when u hide in ur selfscrape from Arty Bombardment, would it get hit by sharpnel and therefore leak?) -

i was issued the LBV as a men, after my AIT.
for my batch, its pretty sure that LBV is mainly used for POI, u know, to look good. lol.
we used the LBV for ROC and it was rather shag lah. there isnt really any place for u to rest ur weapon and slinging weapon is quite uncomfortable.
weight wise, i find it heavier, more so if u need to fill your waterbag and bring water bottle. because of the more sturdy pouches, u can put more items, thus increasing the weight.
