In colder countries, you don't pour water over your head, but in our local climates, it feels great to have a drink and some water over your head. How to do this with the waterbags ? -
BTW, the knee guards can buy branded ones which are also in olive drab and use?

why spend money to buy branded ones only to be dirtied or even stolen in camp? camps are not the best place to bring branded items to use.

i wasnt issued with the new torchlight but during our POI, we were issued with a similar but longer one, those u see on the army posters in mrt stations.
personally i feel the new fieldpack dont work well with lbv. kinda irritating when the waterbag is full and something on your bag. -
Don't noe if you guys noticed abt the Army News. On page 2 regarding the armourd 5 tons.the troops demostrating the positions are using some camoflauged helmets with the camo on the helmet and not our usual tie-to-helmet kind.
are they new stuff or super lao jiao helmets ? -
i saw a recuit carrying the new field pack a few days ago. the new field pack is cool but it looks kinda silly on the recruit i saw. maybe it's because he's small sized so looked kinda weird carrying such a big pack.

my fren said i look like ninja turtle when i used that for my thailand shopping trip because i am small size as well.
i am glad that i recieved the new and slightly different one few mths before my ord and i dont have to chiong sua with that.
imagine the loads.. lbv with waterbag filled and bulging + standard items in new field pack + 6 mags of blanks + organic weapon.. -
its a fabric helmet cover, attached to the inside straps of the helmet by velcro straps. simi body armour? lol.
the front of the LBV have side zips and that compartment i suppose its for putting bullet proof plate or something. LBV itself is not a amour but a burden.
things like look cool doesnt protect well. -
Can LBV be taken off easily?

i do not know the newly issued ones but mine is secured with 3 of those clips which u have on fieldpacks on the front. find it quite easy and most of the adjustments are once-off that rarely comes off, unlike regular webbing which u need to black tape often.
unless u wan to dismantle or put more compartments, maybe it takes a longer time. -
the old webbing can hold 8 mags, two frags and one smoke ...

the rest of the space i put big pouches so i can empty some compartments of the MOP into my LBV -
yea, depends on configuration.
each magazine pouch default is for 2 mags as there's a partition.
my army and LBV equipments are locked in my black duffer bag, cant check how many of each i'm issued with. but commands are issued with additional comms pouch and utility pouch i think. -
All BMT recruits are issued with the LBV and the new fieldpack from this batch (Dec 06/Jan 07) onwards. The standard configuration of the LBV comes with the waterbag, as well as one water bottle pouch. I'm not too sure about the other pouches (magazine, grenade) though.
Passing SOC hasn't been a requirement for passing BMT for quite some time now. However, they have just reduced the requirements even further. Previously, recruits had to attempt the SOC with the full rundown, with their time taken, even though it wasn't a requirement to pass. Now, they don't do any rundown anymore, not even the half rundown. The focus is now entirely on the techniques of clearing the obstacles.

If the Army thinks that there will be no obstacles in the field, why don't they just do away with SOC ? Instead of doing a half-past-six standard ? What technique ? Just do more and you will clear the course.
