i ish posted to driver BUT I HAVE e new stuffOriginally posted by Gordonator:how accurate is this?
aren't it a waste of money considering not all of the recruits will get into combatant vocations. some vocations might not even requires them to wear SBO at all.
we haf waterbag n bottlesOriginally posted by KoolKool:You mean you actually think DSTA engineers designed those things. They just listen to some 'AngMos' marketeers about how if you let soldiers sip water a little bit at a time, can keep them hydrated and therefore no heat stroke.
Then they buy some pieces from the AngMos and ask local vendors to make cheap lookalikes from China. These cheap stuff keeps your ass cool when the bag leaks and water flows down your pants.
I agree with you on the practical aspects. Its great if you are a very busy man, whether cycling, hiking or even working in the office and got no time to stop to take out a bottle or cup. But where got so busy one ?
In colder countries, you don't pour water over your head, but in our local climates, it feels great to have a drink and some water over your head. How to do this with the waterbags ?
in unit maybe (if ur CO is ok with it and that u really need to use the branded ones)... BUT as recruits, better not. don't wanna be too outstanding, rite? later OC will ask, "y, SAF item not good enough for u is it?"Originally posted by acwire_2125:BTW, the knee guards can buy branded ones which are also in olive drab and use?
rich maybe? or some ppl believe that with branded equipments, they can perfom much better.Originally posted by tfcheng:why spend money to buy branded ones only to be dirtied or even stolen in camp? camps are not the best place to bring branded items to use.

its a fabric helmet cover, attached to the inside straps of the helmet by velcro straps. Looks cool, but it's just one more thing you have to wash when u come back after field trainingOriginally posted by one-niner:Don't noe if you guys noticed abt the Army News. On page 2 regarding the armourd 5 tons.the troops demostrating the positions are using some camoflauged helmets with the camo on the helmet and not our usual tie-to-helmet kind.

although i am quite against the idea of scrapping SOC or making it a non-requirement, it is from the angle of combat fitness more than it being a necessity to tackle obstacles in the field.Originally posted by KoolKool:If the Army thinks that there will be no obstacles in the field, why don't they just do away with SOC ? Instead of doing a half-past-six standard ? What technique ? Just do more and you will clear the course.
