heh i see, hmmm 1 AMB is a new name lahz...its part of a transformation to a 3G army. The army Logisticians has evolved and now the logistic formation is no longer called logistics. its now part of a big family called CSSCOM--meaning Combat Service Support Command. heh and part of the transformation, maintenance units like 1GSMB, 3, 6, and 9 DSMB are now changed...no more are they called Batallions..they are now called Bases,hence the name change to Army Maintenance Base(AMB) heh.... so now 1AMB is the new name for the good ole GSMB...

heh MSCC yep been thru tt... i was the 5th batch MSCC and 2nd Batch GSMB ATTS sections and platoons.. heh anw armt specs think they headed to the 3,6 or 9 i tink....they are all scattered thruout the places i tink i m nt veri sure too but im realli veri sure tt 1 amb or the ole GSMB doesnt have any armament techies nowadays...frm my posting till my ord a few weeks back its still the same..only 1 small arms techie---my armourer tts all manzOriginally posted by LazerLordz:Maint. Wow, GSMB becomes AMB..but its damn strange that its called a Base, rather than Battalion
Makes me think that they are stationary unit, rather than field support.
Then DSMB becomes what? Dont tell me this Combat Service Support Command encompasses Supply and Transport units too? -

MES, S&T, Medical (did i miss out any others?) all come under CSSCOM -

nope MSCC are all done in house by OETI. We are taught a more intensive course during our 3 week command course which includes topo(manual and GPS), field maintenance work processes (spare indenting n such), infantry tactics (section movement such as 1up 2 up etc, firefight procedures, combing area, weps deployment, clearing obstacles), convoy tactics (moving out, Convoy proceedure, Anti Ambush/ anti aircraft drills, voice procedures, RALP, LOAC and some other maintenance stuff like QC and other stuff tts integral for maintenance deploymentsOriginally posted by LazerLordz:So did they push a portion of MSCC training to Tekong under SISPEC instruction for those in PES A/B , e.g navigation or is it all inhouse?

we finish our section comd. training we head on to train our men within our units under the ATTS system under the specific Bn SOP. the section will then go thru 2 evaluation periods, the section prof test and the platoon prof test before ORDing.
anyway yep, the armt specs will end up in their respective 3,6 or 9 AMBs, no change is SAFTOE for logistics for now, juz the name change but certainly changes are coming along such as no more spec ranks for all techies, only comd. and section 2IC gets spec ranks....and some more coming along the way

2.Riot control
3.Convoy movement and basic communications.
Those were the only combat related stuff I learnt in my time. None of that section tactics and all the new acronyms which I have no idea of.
While in base, a few of us were selected to go to DSTA for a Train-the-Trainer course, in budgeting and costing for maintenance planning though. We were supposed to be converted to MIS Trainers for units and bases.
As for the rank issue, I think pre-2006, most NSMen technicians will be "over-ranked" in one way or another. I'm very keen to know what they plan to do with all the surplus 3SGs.
