Hi guys, i just got my posting to becoming a MP, any guys here formerly from the same vocation or any idea how the training is like, the life and so on?

wah MP, all the NSF will hate you. but you will look smart riding the bike but not sure if you will say the same if you got to perform fancy arms drill at NDP or jaga DB haha....

i m in mp rite now .. hmm .. can give u an insight on hws life in mp command .. as a trainee .. u r the lowest lifeform lol.. 5bx every morning n veri regimental .. u hav to march from place to place .. u cant play sports during ur trainee period .. n it is staying in .. onli bking out on wkends... u will hav lots of lectures everyday..ard 3 to 4 outfields in the whole course..basically the day will start ard 530 n end ard 7 or 8 most of the time .. n lights off ard 930 to 10++ depending on ur commanders.
after u pop from trainee phase .. there r some companies u can be posted to .. namely .. school .. hq .. apc .. zpc .. dog wing .. db .. gombak .. n other external units .. personally i m in zpc .. i can say life there is quite gd .. we do stay out .. zpc is enforcement company .. we go ard camps to raid n perform deserter ops .. n of cos we r in charge of mowbray station which is the linkup for all saf units sending in their personnel to db ..
apc is the company who specialise in precision drill n traffic platoon .. drill platoon basically will hav to go through OD ... orientation drills for abt 1 mth to get to flamilarise with the precision drill .. after which u will be activated for NDP , any special occasions , or even foreign VIP visits n u will be required to go IStana to perform some duties . Traffic platoon basically go for traffic rounds n oso required to go for ops n other stuffs
SIB is deal with mostly drug or special saf case which is quite classified too .
SB .. i nt quite sure what they really do ..
Dogwing basically u r trained to take care of the dogs .. n support zpc for camp raids as those dogs can be used to detect drugs n arms as some army personnel hid them .. dogs can sniff them out!
Gombak is something like guard duty ..
HQ n sch is more liek those clerk works ..
other external units .. there r alot .. u can get oversea attachment like going brunei for the whole of ur 2yrs -.- but mind u the pay is like .. 1.5k per mth .. of cos at brunei u sacrifice ur freedom n lifestyle in sg

Hey im ex-mp too, ord-ed! I've seen so many mp juniors pass out lo. Mp after basic course is a very "xing jiao-lao jiao" environ, so beware. Anyway my batch get a slip of paper each to choose 1st chice, 2nd choice, 3rd choice of sub-unit to go to. Den all ur commanders will sit down, look at ur picture in the orbat chart and discuss where u shld go. But I heard subsequent batches of MP dont get to choose anymore. So depends on manpower requirement of various sub-unit. And wat I know just b4 i ord is APC nid ppl, so many of u will go there.
ya and I was frm gombak, u get to see all the big F of the SAF there. but gets very boring after a while. u get to learn how to serve the sometimes demanding staffs of mindef, as u man the MPcounters. The only perk is there u can get to see office girls...........
So where in MP command u wanna go to? -
MP Command is one of the best unit around...
Trainee, you will go for rigorious training and super high discipline course. Any trouble you give will make you OOC. Respect and greet all seniors if you want a good time.
You will learn MP wartime and peacetime roles and operations like body search and escorting, building PW cage and firing GPMG.... You will need to master your Military Law ( SAF ACT, CAP. 295 ).
Basically after you pass out, you will be posted to the different coys.
Some coys will need to work in mount dismount support styles, so forget your weekends.
The best coys around will be ZPC and DB.
ZPC is the most interesting and exciting coy as they went out for Ops and raids.
DB is the best place where you learn good interpersonal skills and there are many friendly MPs there! They organise a Happy Hour session every month!!
Enjoy your stay in MP Command... Its the best formation around... they organise runs every week to maintain your fitness level. Out-camp runs are also enjoyable as you go for runs in other places in Singapore!!

What's this about not holding GF's hands ? I thought the Army trying to blend in with society and encouraging soldiers to travel to and from home and office in uniform. Soldiers in uniform when out of camp should do what normal civilians do, walk casually, saying hello and waving hands, carry umbrella when it is raining. Of course, there are little bit of restrictions like no smoking while in uniform, to uphold some image.

waa u wan to mislead ppl ar.. db is by far the worst coy .. trust me .. i work in ZPC mowbray station n i wan to die already .. the system is mount dismount standby .. among P1,2,3 in zpc .. we r already considered mundane , no life , no joy .. imagine p2,3 go cohesion , fri half day off whilst performing the ever same duties is really really a pain in the ass . Hwever compared to db , we r like heaven to them . Same system but harsher conditions , i would say it is a living hell . Moreover as saf is moving into 3G, manpower shifting n shortage is by far the most irritating problem . Working in section based enviroment means hell even 1 guy is missing from the post . Future mps do choose ur coy wisely if u hav a choice -
