Urgent help.

Hi guys..on behalf of my friend.. to ask some qns.
He completed his bmt and has been posted to new unit, he was a pes c because of depression, anxiety disorder.. and now 2 days into the new unit, he got into a unit that is active.. he's a storeman.. he's feeling very down.. he gotten MC for e next 3 days. from his psychiatrist.. he called the mindef hotline for help and he got directed to the saf couselling svc hotline after that... right now he deosnt really knows wad to look.. what appropiate help.. anyone can advise? thanks.. -
Ask your friend to look at the positive side. Really, after 2 years everything will be over. You must be there to support your friend, give him the hope to move on.

hi there, 2 yrs may be short to us, but for his bmt(2 months) it was quite unbearable already. his doctor ask him to go back to him next week.. but i am not sure how can the doctor do to help him, yes write a letter.. but my friend wondered if he going to get a revocation.. posted to a non-unit vocation..Originally posted by Darkness_hacker99:Ask your friend to look at the positive side. I think as his friend,you should try your best to console him
Tell him to compare with those whom are suffering in combat unit that they are far more worse than him.
He should be quite glad that he is Pes C somemore get such a good vocation as a storeman,i know maybe the workload might be more or maybe very silly like doing lot of saikangs ,etc but think hard his vocation is consider Very GOOD already in the Army,what more can he ask?
I think this got to do with mindset,u think it will be better to be re vocated to a new unit,non active,no way man,regardless of what vocation,what unit ,i can say 99 percent of sg males generally don't like to serve NS (including myself)and going into a non active unit still have csm still have rules,still have saikangs,everything is still there including the stupid no 4,it really depend on his own EQ for him to survive in the saf.
Just tell him that every morning that he woke up,don't think about negative things like have to go back to work ,see the stupid CSM PC,etc etc whatever,just think one positive thing that whatever he woke up,it another day forward to his ORD DATE,this is how i manage myself for my 2 and a half yrs in saf,i think he should also be glad that he is born late ,serving only 2 yrs instead of 2 and a half year loh. -

Erm yes he's depressed because of the life he's been going thru.. maybe some kinda phobias..
Is it possible for his vocation to be changed to a non-unit(I do not know the proper term, those not camp one) location? As his psychiatrist may help him with it.. -

Anyway i think the letter provided by his psychiatrist should be shown to the MO , but i think it not going to be easy,maybe he have to proved that he is very stress in his current unit ,etc etc.And the psychiatrist,it is private one or from govt hos??i think private one may be tougher but also hard to say lah -

I can understand how he feels... Calling Hotline = Useless. They will keep directing you to things which you already have done so and nothing much will be done in the end... The only way that your friend can do is see the unit MO and MO will probably refer him to see a psychiatrist in NUH (MMI). If serious enough, will have to say byebye to the army liao...

Don't forget his future job options may be affected if he has a record of serious mental illness in the army. Medical information is confidential but some employers force you to sign a consent for release of medical information if you want to be considered for the job. They will say it is required for pre-employment checkup but once they know of your illness, they will drop you after the probation period.Originally posted by Pes F:I can understand how he feels... go see MO, MO will refer him to PCC(place where psychiatric patients will be accessed by docs), after which the docs will decide

Sometimes I wonder why the hell I go through all the flanking, bashing through kms of bushes, thrown into knee deep swamps by UH with the mortar, spend burnt weekends doing NDP rehearsals, breakup with GF, guard duties etc etc.....
It is depressing, stressful and hell of a siongness, but most of guys been through it and now probably recalling some of these with a tinge of nostalgia.
To those who are trying to siam.......Be a MAN and JUST DO IT..... Storeman, Rifleman, WOSE or Officers. We did our part and NOW do yours.
