Let's not dampen the mood for those who are going to OCS. I see it also as a personal achievement for the young boys. I think its the same mentality as getting into good schools. There are so many universities around the world, why Harvard, MIT ? So if you get into OCS and commissioned, its the same as getting good grades in school. Also when you are in that class, your cohort will be people in places in future, so your link will help you. Imagine if you are LHL's son's OCS buddy, and you can call him anytime for a drink. He don't have to do anything for you. But your Bosses will surely give you some face ? -
serious speaking, I dun feel so great about going into OCS. To me, its just another school. Actually, somewhat in my heart, I really wish to be in SISPEC. Not that I despise officers, but being a Spec will definitely get more interactions bwt your man as compare to officers. I really want to change the mindset of my future man and prove my PS so Wrong about it.
Qns, is there anything I could do to go to SISPEC besides being Out of course? -
Aiyah, How much you get to interact with your men depends on how much you choose to interact with your men. OCS OOC if (not serious) no downgrade can always recourse...if serious you arent combat fit...think chance of you going to SISPEC is zero. Yeah you will be CPL or 3SG but you wont get to go through sispec for that.

Don't let your disagreement with your PS hinder you in any way. You don't have to prove him wrong or right. When you have unfinished and unnecessary issues surrounding you, you'd never be free from having to show other people your progress and being under the influence of the opinions of others.
As an officer, it is up to you what sort of degree of interaction you want with your men. For e.g, if you are a Scout PC, you'd be out with the guys on exercises most of the time, together in a team. Same goes for Armour.
Vocation plays a role, and even if you are eventually posted to a BN HQ as a staff officer, what makes you a good leader is whether you are willing to overcome the traditional stereotype that officers do not mix with the men etc, and make the effort to mix around while not compromising your command effectiveness.
Through my experience, many cadets show a sense of eagerness to learn, but they are quite liable to learn the wrong things associated with rank and ego too. Keep your chin level dude, and be yourself. You should be fine. -

anyway don't worry. times in ocs will get easier. clm is packed and rushed. clm field camp will whack the shit out of you one times good one. you might even wonder why the fark you are suffering in ocs and want to give up. endure is the word. so many before you have done it, why can't you. octs get alot of shit, but you will learn from the shit. most importantly, keep your spirit high always. -

With the exception of special cases, e.g. pilot drop-outs (and OCS no intake), otherwise SISPEC does not accept OCS OOC cadets. It is taken for granted that anyone who leaves OCS with a less-than-satisfactory record is also not fit to be a Specialist. If you get to OCS, you're stuck on that route.
