generally techies stay out..UNLESS ur the suay ones who get posted to a combat unit instead of a maintenance unit but as it stands, stuff are goin to change, the whole MES formation is moving on towards the combat side..means stay in juz like them. According to my knowledge before i ORDed (heh 2 weeks ago onli lah), my unit (1AMB) is moving to kranji in a few year's time so yah....soon techies will not be able to stay out any longer! So techies in service nowadays enjoy ur stay out period ya! oh other than our frenz who are in the SARs, always stay in one! esp prior to LRI, FTX, ATEC etc...

When i was posted to 3rd Guards as LATIC, was told by my CSM that since i'm a KAH, i must stay in unless married. But thank God that year in October 15, I offically ROM with my gf who is now my wife.
As for MES technicians stationed at all the depots staying in, well from what i know, 3 AMB has already started that couple of years back. But as it stand now, there is no requirement unless there is OPS amnning, LAB inspection, FTX and/or last minute adhoc repairs.
