  During my unit time, I hate festive season because it usually means sai gang.
  Where some coc.k officer will recommend to hold a "festive" party for our "deserving" soldiers where all the WORK is done by us, men.
  
  All the officers and enciks do wat?

  during 2004 when I was in OETI there was indeed a Christmas day celebration during eve and that was a half day. But sadly the next day I have guard duty but luckily gor off-in-lieu.
  
  during 2005 I don't recall my unit having Christmas Day celebrations but during that period I did have a long holiday. I still can remembered that:
  
  23 Dec (Fri) - Half day leave (Bookout after having a nice Christmas lunch in cookhouse)
  24 Dec (Sat) - Weekend
  25 Dec (Sun) - Christmas
  26 Dec (Mon) - Christmas holiday)
  27 Dec (Tues) - Clearing my annual leave
  28 Dec/29 Dec (Wed/Thurs) - Unit outings
  30 Dec (Fri) - Unit off
  31 Dec (Sat) - weekend
  1 Jan (Sun) - New year's day
  2 Jan (Mon) - New year's holiday
  3 Jan (Tues) - Back to work

  What is the market rate for doing duty on public holidays? Last time my nsf time is S$50 per day (1992-94). If got NSmen kena duty, then they offer more lah S$80-S$100 coz of family commitments.
