The whole process of Paces2 is slow...there are lotsa places a patient's data must go thru in the system before he actually gets discharged..its not as simple as writing his diagnosis and prescription on paper and passing that onwards...u gotta transfer that into the paces2 system and updating ure online medical information before the system actually prints out the prescription form and status slip and referral letters should a patient needs one...Originally posted by scabstermooch:By your admission, the system is slow.
Why is the system slow? And why do you need 10 minutes to print out an MC?
TBH, I too have found the medical centre to be less than efficient. What exactly do doctors do in the afternoon. Coz the medical centre I went to says that FFIs are only done before lunch.
but cant u juz make the patients n FFI ppl sit seperately?Originally posted by Rockhound:reason behind this is to separate actual sick patients and medical review and ffi personnel so as to not spread watever germs or sickness to those who are not sick...
but i never refuse a guy who comes up with a good reason on why he should do ffi or medical review outside the stipulated time....
Now even SAF drivers also Dip holder. Maybe thsoe still in the forces can update us about this restructuring.......Originally posted by will4:I remember all these WO only got O level n below will soon be asked to leave the service to restructuring.
there is a chance of catching the virus.....Originally posted by STUU:but cant u juz make the patients n FFI ppl sit seperately?
we don't tell ppl who cant do much abt the system.....we onli tell our own medical higher ups...we dun waste effort entertaining these ppl and juz concentrate on doing our jobOriginally posted by scabstermooch:If you do not tell people, obviously they do not understand. In this case, a simple "system is slow" will not suffice. He is a SNCO. The least that could be done is to tell him in detail why it is so slow and suggest to him steps to take to help remedy the situation. At the same time, what are you medics doing to remedy the situation. Have you told the CoC that the system is shite?
Personally I think you are behaving very unprofessionally. You are there to serve others, and part of doing so is explaining to them why things are the way they are. You say you do not want to explain, yet you say everyone knows the system is shit.Originally posted by Rockhound:we don't tell ppl who cant do much abt the system.....we onli tell our own medical higher ups...we dun waste effort entertaining these ppl and juz concentrate on doing our job
i put a sign at the waiting area once saying that system is slow but still ppl complain..its all abt patience
everyone noes that the system is shit...its juz that they are not willing to take that as a reason....and i find that dumb..
i dun really care...the way i see it...u come and report sick..u get ure medicine and status slip and referrals if u need one....
wanna complain...go on uh..he can waste his time..breath..and prolly calories..
don't 's.h.i.t' at other ppl's house when they dun do the same on ures..
i've told many 'superior-ranked' ppl to juz sit down and wait for their turn that they get used to it already...i juz give them another avenue to throw their grievances at in the brigade or division level....i dun really waste my time in arguing cos these ppl would never wanna reason with 3sgs...so i let them reason with a warrant or a major......i seen far too many 'i am superior' enciks and 'i am a young punk' snickers-bar officer to even bother...
i'll serve mine on a silver plate...Originally posted by scabstermooch:Personally I think you are behaving very unprofessionally. If I were a senior officer/SNCO and I met such unprofessional soldiers, I would have their bollocks for breakfast.
Yes, I know it is a difficult job but that is life for you. But you should behave professionally at all times, and you should expect your men to do the same.Originally posted by Rockhound:i'll serve mine on a silver plate...
i always like a good argument cos i noe my OC supports me...i never grab someones balls if they never grab mine first
u try seeing this kinda ppl everyday arh..den u tell me wat u do...
i've been doing this close to 14 mths....
u try hearing the same kind of whining and u tell me how u would react...
i serve my 'customers' as best i cud...but to say that everything is slow....is juz being ignorant...i feel irritated that 'customers' see that my medics are running around like mad doing their work and complaining so much...this happens in the real world too..
even though u put lots of visuals up explaining that system is slow and explaining ppl how the med ctr works...ppl would still wanna whine and throw fits at others...
try doing that every day..its disruptive to wat u are actually trying to do...and that is running the med ctr
totally agree..Originally posted by Rockhound:we don't tell ppl who cant do much abt the system.....we onli tell our own medical higher ups...we dun waste effort entertaining these ppl and juz concentrate on doing our job

The system's slowness is already there for all to see. Look at it proportionately, he is but a 3SG. The powers that decide on B&C and system management are outside his immediate scope of influence. He is not unprofessional, but rather he is trying not to waste time on issues that detract from his duties in the medical center. Most medics I see, are quite overworked as I see it, especially when tons of soldiers come in daily, each expecting to be served like they were in Mount Elizabeth or Raffles Hospital.Originally posted by scabstermooch:Personally I think you are behaving very unprofessionally. i think the most important is for patients to book appointments...most tend to jsut come n expect quick service..there was sometimes when i have to entertatian 5-6 FFIs, PHEs etc amongst are enciks, officers...when they come i also cant ask them to leave since they never book appointment. N those who came for FFIs, PHEs n did book a appointment will complain why they r served so slowly even though they had book appointmentOriginally posted by LazerLordz:The system's slowness is already there for all to see. Can the Duty MO speed up PACES? No. That is like LMIS or it's replacement Enterprise System, managed by Army NMC/SMC. If the SNCO is unhappy, he can feedback to his unit's IT manager or brigade NMC. In any case, such feedback may reach the Formation HQ or G4/G5 Army person responsible much later on.
Add in the turnaround time for system tweaking, and the usual committees that have to be drawn up to recommend changes to SAF-wide systems, you still won't get it done immediate.
So I recommend we all take into account the delay, and try to be early for their FFI, RSI or what not. The Medical Center is run with it's flaws, and while bureaucracy takes their time to improve things, why not be creative and think of ways to maximise your time while waiting?
very trueOriginally posted by wonderamazement:Not trying to be racist here but seems to me the most "Haolian" enciks are Indians though i've met some humble ones.

I used to go back to my office and clear up my work if I'm told I'll only be served after lunch.. then can come back in the afternoon in peace..Originally posted by Gordonator:the system is slow, that's a fact. so if u are tired of waiting, by all means find something to entertain yourself. i'm not sure about other medical centres but my camp's medical centre has a TV, magazines (pioneers, sometimes 8 days and other boring ones) and even 2 computers for u serve the internet.
alternately u can bring your own reading material to pass the time.
