I Just had ICT back there from 11th Dec to 22nd Dec 2006.It depends you are in Camp 1 or Camp 2.
Camp 1 is newer and nearer to the mess than Camp 2.If canteen food is an option.Go for the spec mess store.They have gd chicken cutlets and chops.We always order the chickenchop with nuggets inside ( Can't recall the exact name for it. but its on the menu beside the store). And not to mention cheap SAF beers.
Camp 2 is older and more spread out.If you are a OC/PC NOT from Alpha, be prepared to walk to the HQ block for meetings or warning orders etc.dame irritating.Alpha commanders will have it gd, as Bn HQ shares the same building.
Not too sure abt Camp 1 bunk conditions as i was from Camp 2. but Camp 1 look nicer.Anyway.Just an advice.Flush the toliets first to check that your flush is working.some of the flush DO NOT work and get chokes ALL the time. So if you don't want to sabo your friends. Pls play your role.
If you have to take over stores/armskote on the first day. DEMAND to see all the equipment listing and store list and if the storeman attempts to hurry you to sign Handing Over Taking Over, don't bother with him and take your time to stock take. There has been too many cases of this NSF storemen losing equipment during their charge and attempt to cover up by making the NS Bn take over and shove the blame to them.
Emart is near the front gate.so u have to walk quite a fair bit to EMart.And they open only from 12pm to 7pm in the evenings. Try to go during the evenings as their air con not very strong.
1 thing for sure. It dame hot there, the industrial smell and air just make it so boring.And the amt of dust at the camps is enough to keep an historian busy for a while.haha.

depends on the discretion of CO.
If that day the training programme got no night training, etc, then you may book out like ard 8pm and come back either 2330 or next day early morning, if next day dont have morning training, etc.
Think you can expect 1-2 nightoffs a week. But if you got urgent things to attend to, like exams, see wife, got family problems, etc, you can ask PC or OC for off.
