Discussion: Which uniformed group prepares one for NS most?

Most of those who were from NCC, turned out to be those that suffered the most. Because they went in with some expectation in their heads, unlike the rest who went in with their eyes more open than not.

for NCC/SAF....maybe only drills and range
for NPCC/SPF... drills, range, some knowledge of crime prevention is imparted, and the penal code and organization of the SPF is taught to the Sec 3 cadets. however T-baton and all those law lessons and unarmed tactics are only taught to those going through POBC. -
NCC/NPCC are the worse. As the cadets progress and "promote" to higher ranks, thy are lulled into a false sense of achievement and feel they're good. Most of them tend to slack off and start bullying the younger cadets. So much so when they end up getting "bullied" all over again in BMT so most likely cannot take it.

but being in uniformed grps did instill some sense of discipline and make u aware of wat u gonna expect in army if u already kena tekan in sec sch. but of coz lah, varies from sch to sch. -
My school's Scout group is totally different from other schools. When there were district camps, I can see other schools have more of an army organization, where they use the standard Malay commands for falling in/out/etc., whereas my school uses silent commands.
However, in the practical aspect, they kena pwn by my seniors by almost 1 minute in a trestle chariot race. -
i've seen ex-cadets who became cocksters in bmt, apparent they seem to haf forgotten wat they haf learnt in ncc n i'm surprised.
true tt ncc onli covers a small part of bmt.
also true to a certain extent tt ex-cadets who r used to 'leading' others may not b used to being f ard during bmt, but tt is not a hindrance to performing during the course. eventualli everyone gets psycho-ed into obedience.
personalli thinks tt v xiong ccas like track n canoe best prepare for ns cos the most impt thing in ns is running...if u can run 2.4 n soc below 9min, everyone will think u r god...even ur specs n officers will pray u...
