It's a waste of money to emply cleaners to clean the bunk when the cheapest people around in the SAF are all the SAF people. Time is cheap inside. -

In certain units, eg HQ, civilian contractors are hired to clean toilets and other facilities so that NSFs there can be more productive during their working hours. But bunks are still self-maintained.
Seriously, SAF is not a motel or hotel where ppl will come in to fold your blankets, set ur bed, sweep the floor etc. Even the Colonel would take care of his own living areas if he is ever required to stay in "wherever" for whatever emergency. -

Actually it's best to clean your own bunk, having other people poking around in your stuff is the last thing you want when the MPs come to your unit and know exactly who to ask.
Commander's bunk is always quite a sight though, I actually envied the recruits because they were FORCED to keep their bunks in good condition. I remember sleeping in the platoon office as often as I could, for the bunk I stayed in was quite horrendous. -

MINDEF hires some cleaners from some companies to handle cleaning, but that's beside the point, since everyone there has a specific job scope, and hardly even have a bunk to live in, excepting the MPs of course.
Why the hell would SAF hire cleaners when it can mobilise its own manpower for the job? Remember the SAF is incredibly cheap skate with "talent". -

i dread sleeping in my own bunk, my bunk mates are fine keepign things clean but the shower area is horrendous.
walls black with algae, clogged urinals, blocked toilet bowls.
One thing i don't get is, when urinals and bowls are clogged, why do ppl still pee and do their business on it? arrgh.
it got to the point so bad that RSM called contract cleaner to clean in ONCE and gathered all commanders to maintain it from now on.
1 month later, things back to normal. -
y not we import more foreign talent to do the fighting for us if the need arises..?
