Accidentally burn down a trash bin while burning sensitive documents.... (I just dunno why my unit didn't invest in paper shredders and had to resort to such a dangerous and environmentally-unfriendly way to dispose sensitive documents...)

Anyway I maintain that it was not my fault. It happened during Prof. Test in Thailand. Before the fire mission, I found that the sight was loose in the housing. Thinking that the sight was faulty, I sent a gunner to the CP for a spare sight. After fitting the sight, it was still loose (we were in fire mission now). I sent for another spare sight (the last in the battery). At this time, the GPO had been asking my gun for "check ready" for some time. This third sight appeared to fit, and I reported ready (remember that we were under pressure - if we do not fire, we would fail the Prof. Test). After firing, the feared command of "Stand fast" was given. The Safety Officer came and checked the sight settings. The gun was laid properly. However, when he twisted the sight, it was loose. At that time, I was too wooried about whether I was going to be charged to think much about the situation. In hindsight, I can only conclude that the sight housing was faulty.
2nd one - no it was not me - it was Gun 3. I was Gun 1 commander.
Seemed like my batch had left its mark in Arty History

My biggest mistake was being a hardcore kwailan recruit,I even challenged my CSM to a boxing match ,after knocking out my section commander during games day.For that I didnt go home most of the weekends through out my BMT but that was 26 years ago when anything was possible!

That is not your mistake for being born in Singapore>Some parents go to USA so their child can be Ameican at birth,thats is if your father is rich.Being born in Singapore is not a bad thing......just think about all those illegitimate children born in Indonesia,Thailand ,Philippines......many more out of welock with Singaporean man

They also get better stuffs, such as duffel bag with wheels, PT shoes for all kinds of feet including flat-feet, combat rations with more variety & better taste, etc etc... Compared to 6 years ago (when I enlisted), NS has improved a lot now. -

enlist earlier = ORD earlier, who cares 2 years or 2.5 years.
ORD earlier = get to work/further studies immediately after poly. -
For National Servicemen 2 years or 2.5 years is the same.The last of the 6months is basically chobolan! Its not like prison where you count every hours you are inside.
