I am a FULL TIME student in SIM, i have an ICT next monday (1 week from now), I apply for a deferment 2 months ago by sending them all my documents.
After that i keep calling every few days to check my deferment status but the clerk at NS Branch says still pending.
Finally after one month, i got my reply. It said my application is unsuccessful.
I am speechless as i honestly thought as a Full Time Student i am eligiblefor deferment. I knew SIM is not recognisable as the three other UNI. But my ICT is from 22 Jan to 10 FEB and i have tests on the 12 Feb.
How can i attend lectures and tutorials?
How can i revise for my tests which takes 30% of the entire modules
I am really speechless now, i mean i have all the necessary document to prove i am really a FULL Time Student.
Could someone please help me, i only have 1 week left.
sorry about the mistake, i mean i send my deferment application 1 month ago as the NS branch needs my updated timetable and they reply to me today exactly 1 month later

I won't be surprised if you're not the only one with this problem.
But I believe ICT is made known to you way in advance?
Anyway... talk to your CO. I'm sure he can help you out.
In any case it's something wrong with the whole system...
First, stop talking to the NSF clerk, he can't do sh!t.
Second, talk to the officer in charge, all ICT units are handle by a active brigade. The officer is usually a regular. Talk in a firm and assertive tone that u mean business and not a chow keng ginna trying to keng his way out of ICT.
Third, go to ur school and request a higher rank person, preferable a professor, associate professor, someone with a Doctor something something to write a letter for you. Best, u can get a few of them to write. (I know it is usually the school responsibilities but if u are on good terms with ur teachers, prof, etc he can add in some weight into ur letter)
Lastly, request the phone number of ur ICT CO, call him up and discuss with him.
Note, the above are just recommendation, it is not a 100% guarantee it will approved. Approval is very much depends on ur unit.
Furthermore, u SHLD prepare for the WORST CASE SCENARIO. i.e. u lan lan hab to do ICT. Then u have to make sure u can cover up for the lost time. U can discuss with ur ICT CO on compromise, i.e. allow u to take nights off or stay-out everyday during ur ICT. Most NS CO are also working ppl, so they tend to be more understanding and more approachable with these situations compared to the regulars.
