While I was a spec in Guards, there was this drug addicted bugger who broke into camp, thinking that the disused part of the camp was derelict buildings. By all accounts the green NSFs who were prowling that day (fresh batch of privates who had not finished their AIT yet) handled the whole thing rather well.
They apprehended him and took him to the guard room, where the Guard Com called in the police... then I got arrowed to escort that camp breaker the next day along with the police to show us how he broke in.
While my friend's stint as a spec at Changi naval base, he did handled and resolved several serious incidents as well... so what exacty inspires this lack of faith in our troops? Except some strange desire to shout as loud as possible in this forum?
Taking care of pai kias? Got one time a gangfight broke out near Jurong Island, the 6 SIR dudes took a technical out there, ambushed the group and detained them by covering them with the technical GPMG until the police arrived and took them away.
No doubt if they had really tried to break into Jurong Island they would have certainly eaten lead, the 6 SIR guys do know their stuff on POI. -

It's actually called LPV... but by all means it's really just a technical... after all it is just a pickup with a GPMG on it painted SAF green.

share a actual event: sometime back in the 80's 2SIR had a condem regular came to the main gate drunk after midnight demand the guard to open the gate. Guard refuse and he climb over the gate.
Guard 2 IC activated turn out, 6 guards came out with batton and shield. ready to weck the guy. the drunk fellow got 30 days. Detention. -

Wah lau, luckily I was not a spec in BMTC at that time, cos eveybody do tiger force until sian man... the guard com, 2IC then must be very terok. -

We used to use back in 2003. but of course a technical also have a GPMG mount as well...
