OOC vs OOT

I got kinda confused btw them, what is the difference btw out of course and out of training? I often heard people OOT during training in tekong, but heard OOC in unit now. What is the difference btw them? And OOC people got posted out as clerk and storeman, then OOT people posted where?

OOT is the new official term for OOC.
It was a term introduced in 2004.
But it is not widely publicised as it was limited to training units.
So naturally, active units still use the terms interchangebly -
but if some guys OOT frm BMT and are posted to become clerks/storeman,are they gonna remain as clerk/storeman even if their PES status remain as A &B after their BMT recourse ?Originally posted by Ponders:OOT is the new official term for OOC.

i always thought OOT meant like.. you're still in the course but you're just resting up or something.. then OOC means you're just out of the course.

well, for my case, I OOC from bmt and was posted to be a storeman. But I was never given a temp status or temp downgrade. I OOC as PES B. I went back for recourse after a year, completed the recourse. Went back to my unit and after a few weeks, was to be post to combat medic course. In the old days, it was called OOC (out of course). OOT is just a new term from Mindef. Training schools usually very on the ball with new directives from Mindef. It's when you go unit, that your EYES OPEN to new experiences.
Anyway, if you OOT from BMT, chances are you will be posted out to non-combat vocations. But 99% of the time, you will get storeman, driver, etc positions. Very rarely you will get to be a clerk. Why is this so? Because Mindef wants to maximise manpower, so those OOT will be assigned to new vocations instead of having them lobo at their training unit (however, there's special cases).
So let's say you OOT due to knee injury. You are not sent for medical board but maybe you got excuse for 3 months. You may get posted to unit to be storeman. In your new unit, your MO may review your case and decide to send you for medical board. If NO, then jialat. Because your Pes status will remain at A/B and once your excuse expires, CPC will know and send you back to BMTC/SISPEC/OCS to do your course AGAIN. (but this was last time, now that NS is 2 yrs, dont think got enough time to do long course like OCS)
Same situation if you OOT and got a temp downgrade for 6 months. If you get upgraded, you will be sent for recourse at BMTC etc.
So if you OOT from BMT, got posted to storeman to unit, after 1 year, got recourse back to BMTC, finish BMT, and your pes is still A/B, you will be sent to COMBAT unit. You can forget about going back to your unit as clerk/storeman if you are combat fit. -

In my time, no such thing as 2 weeks from the time you OOC to new unit.
Some fellas even lobo for 2-3 months before getting a posting. I'm serious.
Even though Mindef "orders" all OOCs to be posted out 2 weeks now, i believe there are discrepancies.
IMO, OOC is a bad time for NSFs. You may not be a trainee but you get bullied left right centre but anyone. Or at least those who like to play rank. -
You should see the OOCs in Tekong... can make nearly half a company...
They make great messboys though.
