muz u be a scholar to be able to promote to the rank of captain( at the age of 27 this yr) and not have a degree.
is this possible?
is there any requirements to be a captain in terms of qualifications? -
I have a friend who was promoted to CPT at the age of 30. Armed with a Poly Dip. He already told me his promotion was unexpected because normally for a Dip holder, around the age of 32-34.
On the other hand, i seen a 25 year old CPT but he's a MO

Those officers under overseas scholar scheme with Masters immediately promoted to MAJ after thier 2 years of CPT rank with key appointment holder. Upon receiving the role as CO of some school unit or ship (those in navy) will be advanced to LTC in just 3 years or maybe less than 2. That was the scheme i saw it on my school's CO advancement during the 2003-2005 period.
For your info quite a number of LTC's less than 35 years old... -
you cant be a scholar if you dont have a degree. period.
anyway, let's do some counting. a guy finishes JC and enters NS at 19; finishes NS at 21 and goes to Uni; finishes Uni at 25. If he so chooses to sign on then, he will be a CPT, because he has a basic degree.
so there's really no big deal with that.
on the other hand, a poly student finishes poly and enters NS at 20; finishes NS at 22. If he chooses to sign on then, he will be a LTA. And even for scheme A officers (without degree), they can get their CPTs in around 5 yrs, i.e. he will become a CPT at around 27.
so there's no big deal with that too.

I have a friend who is a Major at 26. Yes, 26 years old.
He is not a scholar either. Just a regular degree guy. He got promoted because he is a very likeable person. His superiors just love his attitude.
Of course, it doesn't mean that if you carry balls, you can be high flier. Just look around your camp (if you are still in the force) and you will see many CMI ball-carriers. -
