hi i'm curious to know what the training and career progression is like for an rsaf pilot.
starting from the moment a candidate passes the interview.
also how is the promotion like? is it based on operational needs or will educational background + yrs of service lead to automatic promotion?
for myself i will be holding a masters degree by the end of this yr...i wonder what will be my rank progression if i sign on. i was previously a CPL
thanks
hmm... maybe i can help u out a bit here...
after passing the CPSS, interview n medical checkup.
u will proceed to Air Force School where u await the departure date to tamworth for Air Grading.
ur CPL rank will have to be "demoted" to OCT, which means taking out ur physical chevron ranks on ur no 4 n putting on the OCT epaulette.
Air Grading in Tamworth is roughly 1 mth plus minus a bit.
if u pass Air Grading, u will then proceed to OCS for future training as a 2 white bar OCT. training will also include jungle survival training in Brunei.
after ur OCS training, u will be back to Air Force School for further ground sch as a 3 bar OCT. once u finish ur ground sch, u will be heading to Pearce for Basic Wing Course of abt 1 yr or so.
total training right from the moment u step into Air Force School is about 2 years. n yes... u will be OCT for 2 yrs...
even the RP at AFS will try to pull rank on u cos u r OCT....
gd luck~!
